The development team working on the new Sonic Lost World title is ready to reveal the official box art for the new title in the franchise while also offering a wealth of details about the story and the actual gameplay mechanics.

The plot will revolve around Dr. Eggman, who manages to recruit six deadly creatures that he enhances in order to take Sonic down.

Unfortunately, his own creations manage to revolt and now the hedgehog and his enemy must unite their powers in order to defeat the Deadly Six by exploring the mysterious Lost Hex, according to AllGamesBeta.

The plot was never the focus of Sonic titles and the development team promises that the core gameplay features have been overhauled, with a new emphasis on speed and on impressive moves for the main character.

Sonic is now able to vault in order to get over obstacles and he can also use a free running technique in order to go up walls and alongside them.

New skydiving moves allow him to quickly move between islands and he can access his trusty Spin Dash once more.

Sonic is also more powerful in Lost World, with a number of Color Powers available in order to give him the ability to destroy enemies and fly through levels.

The game world will be more complex than ever and new boss battles with the Deadly Six will challenge even the most capable players.

Multiplayer modes will give players a chance to race their friends in special levels.

On the Wii U home console, they will be able to use the GamePad to launch Color Powers and can also charge and then share items using the Miiverse social space.

Two players can also play together, with the wingman able to use radio controlled gadgets to help Sonic progress.

Sonic Lost World will also be launched on the 3DS handheld later this year.
