Video game publisher Nintendo announces that it is entering into a worldwide long-term partnership with SEGA, which will see a new Sonic title, called Lost World, launched exclusively on the Wii U home console and the 3DS handheld.

The game will use classic action platformer mechanics and Satoru Iwata, the president of the company, says that more information will be delivered before E3.

A new Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is also in development and will take place in Sochi.

Iwata states, “The graphics are enhanced compared to earlier games in the series.”

The game uses the Wii Remote Plus and real sports will be complemented by a number of dream events, including one that mixes sleighing, bob and skating.

Both titles will be launched in the fall and winter of this year.
