SEGA’s iconic hedgehog zooms to the top of the App Store charts in mere days

Five days after its debut in the iTunes App Store for iPhone and iPad, SEGA’s Sonic Dash finds itself on the second position in the top-downloaded chart for paid apps.

Although some may regard Sonic Dash as a Temple Run rip-off (and they wouldn’t be too far from the truth), the speedy hedgehog is finally finding itself in a place where it belongs.

For the past decade, SEGA has been trying to no avail to capitalize on the once popular franchise but it wasn’t until last week that it finally broke the jinx with Sonic Dash, an endless running game for iOS platforms.

Priced at $1.99/€1.89, Sonic Dash has players dashing, jumping and spinning their way across cool 3D environments collecting rings and power-ups. The game can prove a tad too difficult at times, forcing you to make in-app purchases to progress.

Considering how late to the party SEGA is with its running game, the least they could do is make the game a free download in the near future.
