Sega has released a trailer for the upcoming Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, headed for the Nintendo 3DS in November this year, showing a bit of the fast-paced running and jumping that players will be able to enjoy on the device's tiny screens and highlighting the team's different skills in action.

The two Sonic Boom games have different subtitles now, making a clear differentiation between Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, the Nintendo Wii U one, and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, the smaller, Nintendo 3DS game.

Sonic Boom is a pretty hefty effort on Sega's part, consisting of a transmedia move that incorporates two different games, as well as a ton of merchandising, and a new cartoon.

Sonic himself seems to have gotten a bit of a makeover, in an effort to make him stand out from his incarnations in the last few years, which were pretty disappointing.

If the games turn out to be fun though, fans of the little hedgehog that could will surely find it in their hearts to forgive Sega for the stylish scarf and slender body of the protagonist.

The trailer makes the game look exciting, but that's what trailers usually do, so we'll only know for sure how good the games are when they launch, sometime in November, 2014, for the Nintendo 2DS and Nintendo 3DS handhelds.
