It's no secret to anyone that most of the cover shots and celebrity photo spreads we get to see these days do not actually depict real, flesh and blood people, but rather digitally enhanced, human-CGI mutants. A little airbrushing here and there smooths and evens out most imperfections, removes any unwanted skin markings and gets rid of a million other tiny reminders of the fact that, at the end of the day, nobody is perfect on his own. Therefore, whenever we get to see a celebrity featured on the cover of a magazine that proudly claims to teach you things like "your best body in only 30 days", it's best not to take things too seriously. Fergie's "Glamour" cover is no exception to this: a white-clad Fergie smiles broadly, promising to talk about everything from her gorgeous future husband to her imaginary pregnancy.
Interestingly enough, Fergie confesses that what attracted her to Josh Duhamel was not the fact he was good looking. "He's so great-looking - everybody knows that. But that's so not the reason that I'm with him," she says. "I've dated many different types. I was all over the map. For me, it was learning about being attracted to the right things in a person, not the wrong things." As for the couple's relationship, although the singer admits it's all sugar, spice and everything nice, she also mentions it hasn't yet reached a point where children might be mentioned, or conceived. However, Fergie does have
her celebrity role models picked out, just in case motherhood should become an issue any time soon. "I'd like to ask Gwen [Stefani], because she's really done a great job. I don't want to be touring, though, when I'm pregnant [...]. So for me, I'd take time off to read books about having babies, because I have no idea about any of that. I've never changed a diaper!"
Despite the photoshopped cover and her seemingly perfect looks, Fergie would like to come across as not altogether that perfect. Therefore, she mentions having "fat days" and covering up to prevent any extra weight from showing. "You just have to know what looks good on you. I say, focus on the body part that you feel most comfortable about," she says, before adding "my legs don't change much so a good look for me is a short black dress with long sleeves. If you see me in that, you know I've gained a few pounds, which is fine." So, to sum up, she fell for a great guy, wants kids and is not afraid of gaining weight. That's a reasonably well-thought-out celebrity lifestyle on display right there. Better start taking notes, everyone.
