Some Lucky Man Has Sharon's Panties from 'Basic Instinct 1'

One of the most memorable scenes in cinematography is the famous police interview Sharon Stone gives in 'Basic Instinct'. Actually, it's not the entire scene that went down in history, but rather that precise moment in which she slowly crosses her legs and she has nothing underneath that white short skirt... and all that there is to see is seen!

Now, almost 15 years after the thriller came out on the big screen, it turns out that someone is more lucky that the rest of us: he wasn't left only with the memory of the movie but also with Sharon's knickers!

Screenwriter Joe Eszterhas has just released his latest book, called 'The Devil's Guide to Hollywood', in which he reveals that director Paul Verhoeven was the lucky man who got Sharon's undies and who still has them as a keepsake. Apparently, the actress was not supposed to go commando in that scene but Paul convinced her that people could see her underwear through her dress and that she must take it off. He failed to mention to her that a camera would be placed in such a way as to shoot precisely in between her legs.

'I knew that we were going to do this leg crossing thing and I knew that we were going to allude to the concept that I was nude, but I did not think that you would see my vagina in the scene. Later, when I saw it in the screening I was shocked. I think seeing it in a room full of strangers was so disrespectful and so shocking, so I went into the booth and slapped him and left.', Sharon later told the press.

However, afterwards she admitted that it was that precise scene which got her on 'People' magazine's most beautiful 50 people. As for the director, he has no intention of selling those panties or giving them back to their rightful owner, according to Eszterhas. 'He probably won't sell the scented pair of panties Sharon took off and handed him', an excerpt of his book reads.
