Retrevo has published its latest Gadget Census Report, saying “Whether you're a Mac or a PC, an iPhone, Android, or a BlackBerry user, the gadgets you use say something about you.” According to the report, a fair amound of Android users hate to read books and recycle.

According to the consumer electronics shopping and review site, gadget owners exhibit different behavior and characteristics depending on the gadget “camps” they’re part of.

The report offers a detailed look at some of the more interesting conclusions Retrevo was able to draw from looking at the gadgets people use in thousands of households not only across the US, but around the world as well.

According to the report in question, 31% of Android owners do not have a landline phone, compared to only 23% of iPhone and 23% of BlackBerry owners.

iPhone owners are more likely to be younger than other smart phone owners, and to make purchases with their handsets. They’re also more into watching TV online, and renting movies from Blockbuster, compared to Android owners, by a margin of 23%.

Users of handsets powered by Google’s mobile OS are the most likely to own a netbook - 45%; use their smart phone for GPS navigation - 31%; not read books - 14%; and not recycle - 9%.

As for BlackBerry owners, they are the most likely to own an old CRT TV - 59%, get most of their music from the radio - 23%, and recycle their old gadgets - 38%.

Retrevo also found that households using a Mac as their primary computer buy three times as many iPhones, and almost six times as many iPads, compared to other households.

Those who use Apple computers as their primary computer, often have other PCs in the house, Retrevo claims.

Not surprisingly, households that use PCs as their primary computer rarely have Macs in the house, according to the study.

“Although most gadget enthusiasts all have one thing in common and that is a passion for the latest gear and gadgets, there are also big differences between owners of different types and brands of products,” Rtrevo’s final thoughts are.

“Apple is not just a company but a way of life and a commitment to a line of electronics, Android owners with their choice of carriers could make them more confident cell phone users and BlackBerry owners might agree with the motto slow and steady wins the race,” the company concludes.
