The iPhone Dev Team never ceases to surprise everyone. Only two weeks after Apple released the v1.1.1 update for the the iPhone, the efforts of this group of hackers seem to have paid off. They managed to remove all the limitations that the new upgrade brought, even reviving bricked handsets.

Apple's move of making the unlocked iPhones useless and removing the possibility to run third party applications on the handset proved to be a petty one. It even triggered some lawsuits from unsatisfied customers who had taken the risk of removing their iPhones from the original carrier's support. Moreover, those who had chosen to stick to AT&T's services found that they too could no longer run third party apps on the device.

There is a low chance that anyone other than Apple had anything to gain from this v1.1.1 upgrade. Many people made the move to the new version of the software for being able to use TV-Out and a louder speaker. Still, they lost some the applications that made the device fun to use and colorful.

The iPhone Dev Team managed to hack this new Apple lock in several steps, with the third party apps being the first to be put back in the phone. A great number of people that cursed their days over the past two weeks for destroying their unlocked iPhones after running the v1.1.1 update on it now have reason to rejoice.

The 1.1.1 iPhoneSimFree unlock will manage to make Apple's phone just as it used to be prior to the producer's firmware upgrade, but with all the new advantages of the update. Of course, this will not be free. In order to bring back to life a bricked iPhone or just to restore the third party apps, people will pay up to USD 100. A high price, but still cheaper than buying a new phone.
