PopCap Games is continuing its foray into the Facebook-powered gaming world and plans to launch a new game called Solitaire Blitz during March.

At the moment gamers who like the PopCap way of creating casual games can choose between Bejeweled Blitz and Zuma Blitz on Facebook.

The new version of Solitaire will be heavily social, although it is not clear how the developers plan to change the core mechanics of what is essentially a single-player experience.

PopCap will introduce a beta stage for the game before the full release, allowing gamers to offer feedback on the mechanics and the balance.

Facebook has recently filed for an Initial Public Offering and has revealed that about 12 percent of its revenue is linked to the performance of social games giant Zynga and both PopCap and other developers are interested in grabbing as big a piece of the social pie as possible in 2012.
