David Hayter, the actor that has long voiced Solid Snake, says that he is unhappy about the fact that the newly announced Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain will use an entirely new actor for the role.

Via Twitter, he states that, “If it were my choice, I would do this role forever. To hear anyone else’s voice coming from Snake’s battered throat, makes me a little ill, to be honest.”

He adds, “Any and all casting decisions are the sole purview of Hideo Kojima, and Konami itself. And that’s fair.”

The change of the voice actor is designed to show off the fact that the game is evolving and that the character is also seeing some fundamental changes.

Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain and its prequel, Ground Zeroes, will both be created using the Fox Engine.
