David Hayter, the voice actor of Solid Snake, the main protagonist of Konami's famous Metal Gear Solid series, has revealed that he isn't reprising his role in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V, as neither Konami nor franchise creator Hideo Kojima approached him.

The Metal Gear Solid series has a lot of great characters, but Solid Snake shines above them all and many fans remember the hero's impressive voice, courtesy of actor David Hayter.

Now, after yesterday's rather confusing Metal Gear Solid 5 announcement, in which Konami and designer Hideo Kojima confirmed that The Phantom Pain is actually MGS V, Hayter revealed on Twitter that he isn't going to reprise his role as Solid Snake in the game.

According to Hayter, neither Konami nor Kojima approached him to once again star in Metal Gear Solid 5, but the actor is thankful for the popularity the series has earned him in terms of voice acting.

As of yet, it's unclear just which actors will appear in Metal Gear Solid V.
