Soldner 2 in the Works

Probably many of you don't know that Soldner is because it's not that famous. It is a PC shooter from JoWooD and was released back in 2004. Today, we have confirmation that a sequel for this game is already in development.

This sequel was announced on Soldner's official website just before the New Year. By the looks
of it, Soldner 2 will be focused mainly on the multiplayer aspect. The team employed for this Soldner sequel is different from the original development team, in a way. Soldner 2 is going to be developed by the gEasy development team, who also developed some post-release patches for the first Soldner.

If we are to translate Soldner into English (yeah, Soldner is an German word) we would know the translation would be Mercenary. What sounds cooler, Soldner or Mercenary? For a game to register a large success, it has to have a cool name, and then good graphics and innovative gameplay.

I must admit I haven't played Soldner, but the official website of the game reveals that over 20.000 users are registered into the Soldner forums and discussion boards. That is quite funny, a real big fanbase. What if only 20.000 gamers bought Soldner 2? That would be quite something! But I guess that won't happen, because I have a hunch that they will release it over Steam or something in order to boost sales. Anyway, the game is due to come out sometime in Q4 2007.
