The popular Solar Walk app from Vito Technology is now compatible with the big screen of the iPhone 5 and features a Curiosity model on Mars in the latest version. The app sells for $0.99/€0.79 in the Utilities category on Apple’s App Store.

Vito Technology is proud to announce that its Solar Walk – 3D Solar System model application is iPhone 5-ready. Version 2.0.1, updated just in time for the new school year, adds the Curiosity model on Mars as well as some info about Curiosity in “Science Missions” of Mars.

Avid space travelers will also find new models and textures for Phobos and Deimos and a bunch of bug fixes. Vito doesn’t say which errors in particular were addressed.

The 3D Solar System model in the app lets users navigate through space and time and see all the planets in close range. Almost every object that shows up on the screen has a story to tell, so just tap it to learn more and see detailed graphics (even of the interior of a planet).

To use the 3D mode, cosmos aficionados will need a pair of cyan-red 3D glasses.

The developer has added Pluto to the Solar System Model by popular vote, despite it being no longer considered a planet.
