Here's something that greenheads are sure to appreciate: a solar USB charger designed to let people “nurse” their phones, cameras and whatnot while on the go, and make sure they're using the kind of energy that is right for the planet when doing so.

Manufacturer iLAND says that the device is flexible and foldable. When folded, it measures just 9.25 x 3.74 inches (23.5 x 9.5 centimeter), which apparently makes its worthy of the label “pocket size.”

The folks at Tree Hugger doubt that, as small as it may be, this device can be made to fit into your average pocket and, truth be told, so do I.

The iLAND FLY is water, dust, and shock resistant. Besides, the solar cells it is fitted with are “shadow tolerant,” meaning that they can harvest sun energy even in low-light conditions.

According to iLAND, “It works with all USB powered smartphone and tablet devices, cameras and virtually any USB device.”

The device usually costs $150 (€110.4), but since Christmas is just around the corner, its manufacturers have lowered the price to $100 (€73.6). Head over to iLAND Green Technologies to learn more about it, maybe even order one.
