Here is one very interesting piece of news: Congo is now home to a pair of robots that work as traffic controllers, meaning that they help direct both traffic and pedestrians.

According to Clean Technica, the two robots can be seen at work in Kinshasa, Congo's capital city.

Each stands about 8 feet (2.43 meters) tall, and both look very much like they just came out of “The Transformers” series, the same source tells us.

The two robots are the brainchild of developer engineer Isaie Therese, and rely on solar power in order to stay up and running.

They are fitted with several video cameras, which they use to record ongoing traffic and what pedestrians are up to, and document the occasions when existing laws are broken.

Should anyone dare to run a red light on these robots’ watch, they can be sure that they will get a ticket.

Interestingly enough, it would appear that drivers and pedestrians either living in or traveling through this city behave better since the robots were set in place.

“As a motorcyclist I’m very happy with the robot’s work. Because when the traffic police control the cars here there’s still a lot of traffic.”

“But since the robot arrived, we see truly that the commuters are respectful,” commuter Demouto Mutombo reportedly told the press.
