14 DAY TRIAL // One of the applications that is picking up steam at the moment in the Google Play Store is Solar Charger, designed for all devices that run under Android 1.6 or newer.
If you read the beginning of the app’s description in the store, you’ll learn that it was meant to charge your phone’s battery using the solar power.
It sports three different solar panels to display on the phone's screen, it can detect the amount of light, it features a nice animation while charging, and it allows you to set the device to remain awake while charging.
At first, you might see this app as a breakthrough in engineering and mobile technology, given the fact that it is the very first app of the kind.
And, if you have little knowledge of how solar charging works, you might even fall for it and install the app to save energy and go green.
What you’ll soon find out, however, is that all that the app can do is to display the image of the solar panel on the screen, that it can indeed show the amount of light based on what the phone’s sensor tells it, and nothing more.
Of course, if you read the app’s description entirely, you already knew that. The developer says it loud and clear at the end that the app is fake.
“Of course this application is not charging your phone. You didn't think so, did you?!” the developer notes.
“The only reason for this app is to collect the mentally challenged trolls - who never read the description this far - complaining about every app. Or you can fool your friends with this nice 'charging feature' if you like.”
Many users fell for it and installed it, only to find out that it is fake. Others installed it for the fun of it, to see what it is all about, and had a few good laughs.
