The singer proves that any kind of publicity is good publicity

When Solange cornered rapper and music mogul Jay Z in an elevator in a New York Hotel after the Met Ball Gala and proceeded to land a few punches and kicks before his bodyguard stepped in, she didn't fathom that she would be able to cash in on the fight.

It turns out that administering a beating to her brother-in-law, the man who married her more famous sister, Beyonce, has earned Solange the right to sit in the news and this, in turn, has earned her more reputations.

The direct consequence of that, according to Contactmusic, is the fact that Solange is now selling more albums. In a weird twist of fate, instead of losing face and prestige, Solange is getting a boost, and a significant one at that too.

Her record sales are said to have increased by a jaw-dropping 233%. Figures show that Solange ended last week, on May 18, with 2,000 downloads, whereas previous week, on May 14, she was situated at 600 downloads.

The real reason Solange lashed out at Jay Z in the elevator on that night and why Beyonce didn't flinch a muscle is still unknown, but that isn't stopping the singer from cashing in on her fame, even if it was gained by shady means.
