14 DAY TRIAL // As the Solange Knowles, Jay Z scandal has escalated into something else, spawning divorce rumors for Beyonce and Jay Z, a new report seems to confirm that theory saying that Solange was actually defending her sister when she attacked Jay in the elevator.
Said attack occurred after a MET Gala 2014 afterparty last week and was captured by a surveillance camera and then sold to the media. Because the footage came without audio, speculation on what could have prompted it, what could have gotten Solange so furious immediately started online – and the topic is still of interest.
The New York Daily News claims to have it on good authority that things started to take a turn for the worst much earlier in the evening, at about the time when Solange got into a verbal spat with designer Rachel Roy.
Roy is pictured with the singer above: they posed on the red carpet together at the same event – the MET Ball – just 2 years earlier.
Reports had already said that the two had exchanged words at the MET afterparty held at the Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel, but many assumed that Solange was being belligerent because she had gotten slightly tipsy.
In fact, Solange went to confront Roy because she’d noticed how the designer would hit on her brother-in-law. “Rachel is a little too close to Jay Z. Solange doesn’t like it, and Beyonce doesn’t like it,” says a spy.
Apparently, Solange warned the designer that “anyone who gets close to Jay has to be warned and deal with her as a sister,” but Roy would not back down. Any other woman would have probably tried to get Solange to calm down or taken her warning as a sign to stop flirting (allegedly) with Jay, but not Roy: so she responded to Solange the same way she’d been addressed, by yelling.
The report claims that the verbal argument was cut short when Beyonce and Jay Z stepped in, breaking the two ladies apart. Pulling Solange aside, Jay informed her that she was “out of line” with the way she’d behaved which, clearly, only got her more inflamed.
So, when Solange found out that Jay also planned on attending Rihanna’s party without Beyonce, a party where Rachel Roy was sure to attend, she flipped and got physically violent. The rest is history – and available in the video below.
