14 DAY TRIAL // Matthew Knowles, Beyonce and Solange’s father and former manager, remarried last week, in a ceremony held in Houston, Texas. A new report by Us Weekly says that neither Beyonce nor her sister was present on the occasion.
Mr. Knowles himself has confirmed this for the publication, explaining that his daughters had previous engagements that prevented them from being there.
In saying this, he seems to be trying to shut down speculation that there’s any rift between him and Beyonce and Solange, as various media outlets are claiming.
Knowles and former model turned realtor Gena Charmaine Avery had been engaged for a year and a half at the time they tied the knot. He is 61 and she’s 48.
Matthew and Tina Knowles were married for 31 years and filed for divorce in 2011 amidst a huge cheating and paternity scandal.
That same year, in March, Beyonce and her dad parted ways professionally. She released a statement to explain that it was time she took certain professional matters in her own hands, stressing that they still maintained a strong personal relationship.
“I've only parted ways with my father on a business level,” she said.
“He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me. I grew up watching both he and my mother [Tina Knowles] manage and own their own businesses. They were hard-working entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps,” the diva added.
With all that, rumors still hinted at some family drama behind closed doors, especially since the year of the announcement and the divorce coincided.
On the side, Mr. Knowles also fathered another child by another woman, and this was said to have put a serious strain on his relationship with his daughters.
