SolCool 4, The Air Conditioner That Can Run On Solar Power

Wind power has joined forces with sister solar power! If your house is not equipped with an air conditioning unit because
electricity bills scare the heck out of you, then solar powered air conditioners aren't a waste on you. That's also the case especially if you live in a hot climate where power outages often occur. But, who really needs air conditioning every day? SolCool thinks that there might be some "breathless" people who might like the idea. Who doesn't like cool solar panels after all? They released a completely DC (data center) powered AC (air-conditioner or "arcon") unit that uses 500W of power. SolCool also launched 2 years ago "Hybrid Solar Chiller", the first air conditioning system that utilizes a combination of 12-volt solar/back-up battery and 110-volt power.

SolCool's Milennia version 4 air conditioner can also function "fueled" by solar power energy. Isn't that cute? Don't get excited though, the battery can run for 24 hours after a power outage. That should give you enough time to go buy another one if the power break continues. Not really necessary! Here's the interesting part: it features a battery that is recharged using solar panels during the day and runs from stored power at night. The unit can both extract heat from an area and also provide hit (not at the same time though). The unit is 4 feet high and 2 feet by 2 feet at the base. No word on the price yet, but SolCool 4 can actually lower your electricity bill with about 75% (so they say). SolCool's Milennia version 4 is in the 1.5 to 2 ton range, which makes it fit for normal homes.
