"A Custom Search Engine is a tailored search experience, built using Google's core search technology, which prioritizes or restricts search results based on websites and pages that you specify, and which can be tailored to reflect your point of view or area of expertise." This is the way Google describes the service. So, I decided to test the functionality of this search engine and you can see the result in the first picture of the article.

Step 1: go to http://google.com/coop/cse/overview. You should see Google's presentation for Custom Search Engine that says you can "create a highly specialized Custom Search Engine that reflects your knowledge and interests. Place it on your website and, using our AdSense for Search program, make money from the resulting traffic."

Step 2: press on "Create a Search Engine" and then enter your username and password for the Google account. You can use a username from any Google service (Gmail, Google Talk, etc.).

Step 3: enter your "Search engine name" and the description you want. Then, you should enter the keywords you think they will represent the search engine and select your language. Write the sites to search (you have the option to write your own sites or search the entire web). Read the Terms of Service and check the box if you agree. Then, you're ready to press Next.

Step 4: You're almost done. You have a preview option to test how your search engine will work when it will be ready. You can press Next.

Step 5: "You've just created the search engine "Softpedia". The search engine was created so you can copy the text code to include it into your site."

Step 6: Press on the "Control Panel" link and go to "Look and feel". Here, you can customize the way your search engine looks. Let me give you a tip. Visit this link and create your custom logo to upload it using an option provided by Google.

Step 7: Go to "Code" link and copy the html code to include the search engine into your website. For example, a search engine customized for Softpedia has the following code:

code
Step 8: this one is optional. If you're interested in earning some money with your recently created search engine, then you should check this option to activate and customize your AdSense account.

Eight simple steps to create a powerful search engine. Quite interesting, isn't it? If you think you can earn some money, then I bet you're attracted by this service.
