Softpedia Users Prefer the ZoneAlarm Firewall

The latest Softpedia poll has revealed the users' latest trends in firewall solutions, and we have to say that we were a bit surprised by them.

Despite the fact that ZoneAlarm has won the Softpedia User's Choice Award, the number of votes given to each application has showed that many users don't employ anything but the firewall solution embedded in Windows XP with SP2.

As usual, we asked Stefan Fintea, Softpedia Software Research Manager, what features from ZoneAlarm allowed it to win the Softpedia award.

�Of all the firewalls released over the years, ZoneAlarm has stood out and has succeeded to stay on the market thanks to its accessible interface, which didn't require advanced IT knowledge. Being easy to configure and to use, ZoneAlarm offers users relatively advanced protection, especially to those who don't require maximum control of their computer and Internet access."

The third place was fought over by Sygate Personal Firewall and Norton Personal Firewall, the percentage difference between these two being quite small.

With almost 1 percent more votes than Norton Personal Firewall, Sygate Personal Firewall managed to occupy the third place.
