Softpedia has teamed up with Tool Force Software to give away 15 ForeverSave 2 licenses to the readers who post the most original comments.

ForeverSave is a Mac app that allows Mac owners to save work in progress in various applications. Version 2.0 has been completely re-written from the ground up.

ForeverSave 2 now features universal auto-save and backup versioning for all document-based applications.

“Losing data, caused by application crashes or unintentional overwriting is exasperating and unnecessary,” says Tool Force Software. “ForeverSave 2 is your new lifesaver that protects you from all kinds of disasters.”

Users can define their preferred time interval and ForeverSave automatically saves and backs up all documents you're currently working on.

“Add as many applications to ForeverSave's library as you want and you'll no longer need to manually save any of your documents,” says Tool Force Software.

The app is basically a combination of OS X Lion’s Auto Save and Versions features with a highly intuitive interface that allows you to instantly pinpoint a certain document and open it in that particular state, whether it was created today, or last week.

The new one-window layout lets users view backups and their versions at a glance.

“Each time documents are saved - either manually by yourself or automatically by ForeverSave 2 - a version of the document is created which allows you to browse through a complete version history,” Tool Force Software outlines.

Users can also get a Quick Look preview of any file, as well as have the app automatically replace a faulty original document by an earlier working version from the backups.

Previously incompatible applications are now fully supported by ForeverSave 2, the developers said.

Use the comments to tell us how you'd use ForeverSave 2. For example, what applications are you using that makes it necessary to hit CMD+S much too often?

Of course, this is just to get you started, so don’t limit yourselves to that. Let your imagination run free.

15 of the most original, meaningful comments will be handpicked by Softpedia to give their authors a free ForeverSave 2 promo code to redeem the full version of the software from the Mac App Store.

Make sure you provide us with a valid email address so we can send you the promo code.

By the way, ForeverSave 2 requires Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or later, an Intel Mac with at least 1 GB RAM (2 GB or more recommended), and Internet connectivity for the license activation.

I would use it to save word documents (papers) and Excel spreadsheets that I would quickly like to continue when interrupted.

ForeverSave is a nothing short of a God send for designers. Using ForeverSave with the Adobe suite allows me to focus on being creative, and not mindful of how often I've saved my latest revision. It frees me up to do my job, createing meaningful designs, while ensuring my computer is doing its job, and not loosing all my work. A truly great piece of software, one that really is among the important tools in a designers arsenal.

As a screenwriter, I use ForeverSave to track my changes on Movie Magic Screenwriter and Circus Ponies NoteBook. Every tweak to dialog is a potential disaster if lost, so I need constant saves. And NoteBook does so many different things, I practically have to glue an anvil to the command and s keys. Add an attachment? Save. Annotate a file? Save. Create an outline? Save. Insert a graphic or photo? Save save. Sure, NoteBook saves automatically, but it OVERWRITES the file. Not ForeverSave. That's why I hope to use ForeverSave... forever!

I use ForeverSave 2 together with Final Cut Pro X to save various versions of my video editing projects.

FCP X (10.0) automatically saves projects, but does not preserve previous versions. This creates a problem, if the database file gets corrupted or, if you want to revert to an earlier version of your project.

Here ForeverSave 2 helps, as it can be set to watch the project and event folders of FCP X (using Advanced Observing Folders). Whenever a project or event changes, it saves a new version of the files, which can be easily retrieved and reverted, if necessary. Until FCP X adds the missing versioning features, ForeverSave 2 is the only solution I found which gives a similar safety net as the autosave vault of FCP 7

This app os a saver, for creative people.
What happens if you are working in the middle of the night with a video or a magazine....your brain is mid-sleep now and you forgot to CMD+save.
The app crashes, next up you do.

No more freaking out!!!
