ThinkGOS proudly announced a couple of days ago the immediate availability of a new Linux-based operating system,
gOS Gadgets. The OS is built in such a way that you can easily have access to over 100,000 iGoogle and Google gadgets, all with the help of a pre-installed version of the popular Google Gadgets application. Based on the newly released Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS, and especially designed for NetTops and NetBooks, the gOS Gadgets operating system is the third and best edition of a Linux distribution to have debuted at Wal-Mart stores a few months ago.
For advanced users, gOS Gadgets includes Google Mail, Calendar and Documents, which will be launched in Mozilla Prism windows so they can look like real desktop applications. Moreover, it provides the newest version of the Wine software, so you can run dozens of Microsoft Windows programs.
gOS Gadgets will come pre-installed on NetTops and NetBooks available in the US, Europe, and Asia.

Unison Technologies announced a partnership with Canonical, and the release of Unison, the first fully-unified communications software. Currently, there are two versions available for Ubuntu, Unison Server and Unison Desktop Edition, the latter being a beta version. This release eases once again the wide-range adoption of Linux, Unison running on Ubuntu offering a great alternative to Microsoft Windows for business IT. Rurik Bradbury, CMO of Unison Technologies, expressed his confidence in Unison becoming a great option for small and medium businesses, by arguing Ubuntu's user friendliness and wide distribution. Musix Linux 1.0 R2R5, a 100% free operating system based on Debian GNU/Linux and Knoppix, and meant for artists focused on music production, has been announced a few days ago by the Brazilian music teacher Gilberto Borges. In this version of Musix, Brazilian Portuguese and English have full support, while Italian, Spanish, French, German and many others languages have only partial support. However, the former can be added using Synaptic or apt-get.

The Elive Team announced the release of a new development version of their Linux distribution.
Elive 1.8.2 includes a new kernel, an improved installer, Firefox 3, an autoeject function, Madwifi driver and more. The kernel version used is 2.6.24.7, updated for a better configuration of IDE/SATA/SCSI chipsets. The new installer, with improved and more user-friendly features, allows the installation of a recent version on the computer. However, you cannot update your old Elite system to the current version; this feature is not yet implemented in the installer so, for now, you have to be content with a fresh installation. Also, this version includes Firefox 3, also with new and more user friendly features, and now better looking and apparently faster. The Elive bookmarks are updated with better ones as well.
