The latest update to the forensic and recovery Linux distribution comes with a new kernel and a plethora of updates including to the main software lineup, Sleuthkit, Autopsy, Dhash and so on. But DEFT Linux 6 also comes with some more exiting new features. One of the biggest is the inclusion of Windows computer forensic tools which run in DEFT 6 using Wine.

dots Red HatOn January 13th, Red Hat announced the latest update to the long running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 operating system. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6 comes with plenty of updates including a brand new Linux kernel build as well as new versions of many of the main packages.

The latest RHEL release comes with enhanced driver support. Several drivers, for network adapters, RAID controllers and other drivers are included and supported from the installer. RHEL 5.6 comes with several updates in the virtualization department as well. Libvirt has been upgraded to version 0.8.2.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6 ISO images can be downloaded by all existing RHEL subscribers via the Red Hat Networks service.

· On January 10th, the PC-BSD team has prepared another testing release of the upcoming PC-BSD 8.2 operating system, now based on FreeBSD 8.2 RC1. · On January 15th, Amarok 2.4.0 has finally landed, after many months of development. It's been close to a year from the previous major Amarok release and there are plenty of things to like in the fresh Amarok 2.4.0 "Slipstream." Along with the expected performance improvements and bug fixes, new features like transcoding support, a brand new collection scanner, support for the iPod Touch 3G, MusicBrainz tag correction and other features should make Amarok users quite pleased.
