dots Summary:

dots Linux MintOn September 7th, Clement Lefebvre announced the release of the Linux Mint 9 Fluxbox Edition operating system. Linux Mint 9 Fluxbox comes with all of the updates and new features in Linux Mint 9 built around the Fluxbox windows manager.

Specific to Linux Mint 9 Fluxbox is the Tint2 panel which replaces the default Fluxbox panel to function as a task manager, system tray and clock area.

The Thunar file manager gets a "Delete" and a "Move to trash" option, just like Linux Mint 9 Xfce.

The major updates to Linux Mint 9 are also present, obviously, like the completely rewritten package manager, which now has over 30,000 available.

dots Super OSAlso on September 7th, the team behind the Super OS project announced the immediate availability of the Super OS 10.04 operating system. The Ubuntu derivative sticks pretty close to the original, but aims to make it a bit more user friendly, mostly by including more multimedia codecs and more default packages.

Super OS 10.04, despite the name, is based directly on Ubuntu 10.04.1, the latest release of the long-term support version which bundles all of the updates and patches made available after the initial release.

One of the differentiating features, at least for the 64-bit version, is the inclusion of some 32-bit libraries for better support of non-native applications.

Super OS 10.04 also comes with the VLC media player and has support out of the box for DVDs, MP3s, QuickTime and Real video files, WMV, DivX, Xvid and most other popular video and audio formats.
