TotalMedia Theatre 5 from ArcSoft is not just your average video player. Endowed with Blu-ray, DVD and AVCHD support, the application is capable to render 3D movies, as well as improve cinematic experience for 2D video.
The 50 licenses we have to spare can be obtained only by posting comments below this article, but there's a condition: they have to be smart, funny and memorable. So, the lines you drop should stand out from the crowd, so going for a more creative post increases your winning chances. Get your creative juices flowing and come up with a post to put others to shame. Priced $99 (€99), TotalMedia Theatre 5 is an all-in-one media playing solution. It can render any 3D and 2D videos and photos, or crisp up the image of standard definition movies by simulating HD. Moreover, support for GPU-acceleration ensures that your CPU is not fully loaded, as the stress is transferred to the graphics card. The application also shows media management skills, which allow you to keep your audio and video files organized in one interface. For quick access of the items, TotalMedia Theatre presents them in beautiful and modern tile-based layout that permits easy browsing. Note: You have 24 hours to post your comment from the publish time of this article. Your chances to win one of the 50 free codes are only as good as your comment. So make your remarks as honest and witty as possible. The winners will be picked from the comments section of this article, and will be contacted in 5 days after the giveaway expires. They will have to provide their full name in private (when required) in order to collect their prize. No other information except for your comment and the alias / nickname you provide will appear online. We urge you not to double post and, most importantly, be original because pasting from different sources on the Internet will get you kicked from the giveaway campaign. | Comment #4 by: asdasdasdsad on 23 Oct 2011, 11:33 UTC | reply to this comment | its really a good giveaway today, this is the one of the valuable giveaway in this giveaway campaign i tired to say but happy to say again and again Happy Birthday SOFTPEDIA.ArcSoft have gone the longest way since last year's Blu-ray player reviews with their TotalMedia Theatre. For whatever reason they have skipped version 4 and the current version is numbered 5. Maybe that's their way of pointing to the large amount of new features.
So, what's new in this version of ArcSoft's Windows Blu-ray player software? First and foremost, 3D support that used to be available for TMT 3 through a plug-in (and for OEM licensing only) is now improved and integrated in TotalMedia Theatre 5. The Sim3d engine which is responsible for transforming 2D material (not only movies, but also photos) into 3D has been updated. Added is support for additional file formats (WTV, FLAC and more) which now brings TotalMedia Theatre in the league of PowerDVD 10 and near the abilities of dedicated video file players. Another move in this direction is the improved subtitles support: manual subtitles selection (unlike PowerDVD 10, which only has automatic subtitles and they need to match the video filename), and a cool new feature, which allows for What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get subtitle positioning. The SimHD engine which is ArcSoft's equivalent of Cyberlink's TrueTheater HD (or with other words ArcSoft's upscaling and post-processing engine) has been updated with a few post-processing effects, namely noise reduction and smoothness.
Apparently, ArcSoft have been taking notes of Cyberlink's foray into the online world. So they now have an online venture of their own, albeit in a slightly different direction. They have practically added a simple YouTube video browser and player in TotalMedia Theatre. It allows you to search for particular videos and navigate the Most Popular and Featured channels. You can also connect to your Facebook profile and post status updates linking the currently playing YouTube video.
The user interface of ArcSoft's Windows Blu-ray player software has been updated. It now feels slicker and more minimalistic, but also more streamlined. A new feature called Magic View (see the screenshot) allows browsing all the video lists through an interactive grid of thumbnails. This view is applicable to all video lists: YouTube, UPnP media servers, the library, any user created playlists. Videos can be previewed directly on the grid. Pretty neat, and also optional: you can switch back to good old lists if this is too extravagant for you. There is also an all-new Smart Menu feature, which simulates the pop-up menu of Blu-ray movies for video files and DVDs. That's where the user can search IMDB for movie info or add bookmarks to scenes in addition to the typical audio, subtitles and chapters options. The user interface improvements also spread over the Windows Media Center integration. It is seamless and feature rich.
Last, but not least, ArcSoft have probably done some optimizations in the playback engine. The player is now faster as can be seen in the comparison table at the end of our Blu-ray player reviews.
Noteworthy features coming from TotalMedia Theatre 3 include Parental Control options, Power Management profiles and the ability to bookmark scenes in videos. And there is still HD DVD support, which might tip the scales towards TotalMedia Theatre 5 if you happen to own HD DVDs from the days of the HD format wars. Another unique feature is BDMV support or, in other words, the ability to play Blu-ray content from folders.SUPER This is a handy feature for people who like to store multiple Blu-ray discs on hard drives for backup or easier access. Performing a similar feat with PowerDVD 10 would require manually selecting and playing the .M2TS files forming the BD structure.
One minor gripe I have concerning ArcSoft's Blu-ray player software is the fact Windows needs a reboot in order to complete the installation. Now, this is obviously only done once and is very minor but is still something that belongs to the past and a nuisance you don't experience with neither PowerDVD, nor WinDVD.
Really valuable giveaway today i hope i win this one,i hope i can enjoy movie's on my PC if i get this one. thanks to SOFTPEDIA for this awesome giveaway. |

| Comment #19 by: ashwini on 23 Oct 2011, 12:21 UTC | reply to this comment | Great giveaway softpedia. This was something i was looking after for, a player so good to make my movies feel crisp and simulate the cinema hall experience even at home. With the kind softwares i have i hardly managed to get such experience. I love VLC but with those dull interface it makes me feel as if i am still watching movies in windows 98 or XP although i have windows 7. Also vlc struggles with some formats.
I have always looked for a great competitor to vlc and with those beautiful interface and cool features as mentioned in the giveaway page it seems this can be the one. Hoping to get one soon |
| Comment #20 by: Woomera on 23 Oct 2011, 12:23 UTC | reply to this comment | to be honest i have never tried this before well because its not freeware and errr have you seen the price tag? :)
but i did a little research and i see that this is mainly produced to deliver high-end quality videos rather than just supporting every single format out there.
the screenshots i saw on a forum that was taken with this was nothing short of AMAZING!
having an HDMI monitor and a 2 gig graphic card i cant wait to get my hands on this bad boy player.
lol i guess even if i dont win im gonna try a trial and watch a few of my videos again just to enjoy the quality like a child just staring at a toy store looking like idiots cause they know they're not gonna have em all :P |

| Comment #22 by: Art on 23 Oct 2011, 12:30 UTC | reply to this comment | Dear Ionut Ilascu and Softpedia,
Once again, thank you for your generosity. I greatly enjoy celebrations in which the guests (we readers) are the recipients of such desirable gifts.
I have used ArcSoft products in the past. Their software is (or was) often included as a freebie on webcam or camera driver discs; PhotoImpression come to mind. The software seemed stable, reasonable functional, and free: three of my essential criteria for software. If I'm lucky enough, with TotalMedia Theater 5, I could move my image/video work in a whole new direction (the 3rd Dimension, of course). I would love to have this software just for it's audacious name.
Once again, Happy 10th year,
Art |

| Comment #26 by: SynGamer on 23 Oct 2011, 12:54 UTC | reply to this comment | I just want a fantastic player to play all the good stuff I have on my laptop. All the players I've tried failed to play full HD without crashing sooo , and I predict this player will solve the problem, helping me to watch my por- er I mean my *ahem* videos better. Heh. |
| Comment #27 by: walang_sangit on 23 Oct 2011, 12:56 UTC | reply to this comment | Why lately I've been upset, the answer is simple video player that I installed does not match what I expect, I have to install other programs to cover up weaknesses that owned the program and after it all over my computer turn a fuss, it seems there are some files the clash, but my desire is only modest, I just want to be able to enjoy the experience of watching a movie like that my friends tell me, in fact there has been a video player that can satisfy my need is TotalMedia Theatre 5, unfortunately I have not been sufficient funds to buy new software, and I'm very grateful the Softpedia my dream to have this software a little open, I'd be very grateful if Softpedia willing to set aside one license only for me, so I could relieve my anger, because anger makes people often get old fast |

| Comment #41 by: Geomonster on 23 Oct 2011, 13:53 UTC | reply to this comment | Got bored of using a lot of players serving different purposes. One spoiled my speakers, and the others giving trouble like hanging, low volume, low graphic quality etc. It's time to have ArcSoft Total Media Theatre which have the capabilities to handle HD videos, and works like a GenNext Home Theatre. Just installed a trial version for this review... It has a nice look and mind blowing performance. It can even play standard DVDs in HD and also in 3D. You will just feel it's presence from the first day itself..... |

The interface is bottom has the usual play, stop and pause buttons, along with a folder icon. I can open the movies to be played, whether they are saved files or discs. TotalMedia Theatre 5 deals with a wide range of formats, including high-definition types such as blu-ray. The screen is maximized, the control fades after a few minutes to enhance viewing, and a pop-out remote is also available.
TotalMedia Theatre 5 also has some good power settings, so i can use my laptop without worrying about the battery. I now use this program to use RAM for about 5-10% .I ilke TotalMedia Theatre 5 because emphasis on high-quality sound and image. Thank you for giveaways. |

With this software, 3D rendering would come naturally. And it will also take out the load from your CPU by its GPU-acceleration support. Hence, a pure entertainment without wearing out your PCs and/or Laptops.
So go ahead, say that poem again and enjoy all your audio and video files. Browse them on just one interface, and play it up! |

Especially when it solves all my media problems. A plus is for me The 2D feature had me sold, and I will have certainly a good use for this software if I were between the lucky winners. I had used total media theatre one year back N like it much since then. It was trial version so I uninstalled that. I haven’t used this current version but I am sure it will be much better than past version and also better than the other similar product which claims to be no 1 but consume so much resource and can’t play some file types.
Will be very glad to win this Theatre.
It will be like a gift of Diwali to me( A festival of light, firework, sharing of sweets and wishes, in India).I am on vacation for few days.Hopfully I may find surprise at the end of the vacation.
Thank you again |

| Comment #84 by: Suman Kumar on 23 Oct 2011, 18:17 UTC | reply to this comment | OOHH MY GOD, Its really amezing software Giveaway. and Total media Theater 5 is the best media player with an unique user interface around the industry.i had used it many times for trial as it costs $99 and i am unable to bear the cost because i am still a student totally dependent on parents. Besides that I live in darkest Africa where the dollar exchange rate is horrific, so I'm sure you would like to donate a license to up lift the brothers here! |
| Comment #89 by: GerMulvey on 23 Oct 2011, 19:46 UTC | reply to this comment | I tired this excellent app for a while, sadly knowing I couldn't afford it. It handles all kinds of video with ease and integrates with windows media centre well. For blu ray it is just fantastic and offers great control. Also handling 3d content too. If your considering a HTPC then this is a must that you really need to factor into the cost of your setup. It has a nice easy to use interface that pretty much allows you to dive in and go without the need to rtm. Overall it's an app I would have loved to use but due to it not being free I'm stuck with the just about ware that came with my bdrom drive. Like a well know brand it does what it says on the tin. An excellent must for videophiles! |

| Comment #100 by: B2012 on 23 Oct 2011, 22:00 UTC | reply to this comment | Un día la señorita SOFTPEDIA se fue de compras con sus amigos WINDOWS, LINUX Y MAC, ella quería adquirir un producto de gran calidad que satisfacierá sus necesidades y expectativas como usuario cuando de REPRODUCIÓN DE VIDEOS y AUDIO se trataba. | Comment #102 by: Adrian on 23 Oct 2011, 22:17 UTC | reply to this comment | I haven't heard of this product until today. But I decided to give it a shot anyway, using my reference HD file (a H264 1080p MPEG4 .mov video coming from a Nikon D5100 camera).
This particular recording could not be played back smoothly on my Win 7 system by none of the media players I've used so far (BSPlayer, MPC HomeCinema, VLC, Windows Media Player, CyberLink).
But to my amazement, Theatre played it perfectly with only 60% CPU usage. Now that's what I call capable!
Hopefully my comment stands out from the crowd, just like TotalMedia Theatre 5 stands out among all those media players, and just like Softpedia surely stands out from other news sites with these giveaway campaigns. Considering the price tag, I'd probably never own this niche product otherwise.
Happy celebration Softpedia, keep it coming! |

| Comment #109 by: warptek on 24 Oct 2011, 00:49 UTC | reply to this comment | Can I have a license, please? Here's why I should have one... Sony, one of the companies that invented Blu-ray, has obnoxious licensing requirements which I can't stand. So, the ultimate revenge for me would be to get to watch Blu-ray discs on my computer without having to pay their obnoxious licensing fees. That'll learn em good for making people like me angry and have to jump through hoops so's I could watch a movie. Please help me get back at em good. Thanx. |

| Comment #115 by: TBuck on 24 Oct 2011, 01:54 UTC | reply to this comment | I'm having a hard time getting my thoughts together on this super offering. I downloaded the trial package of TotalMedia this morning and have been on and off it all day.
After 8 1/2 years with the old Pentium XP machine, I gave in and bought a new PC 4 months ago. Win7, lotsa RAM, multiple cores - salesman said it was top of the line. Loads super fast, doesn't crash or freeze, runs all the old programs, surfs on the interweb, and the flat screen hdmi monitor doesn't take up near as much space. I have been pretty happy with it.
That all changed today. TotalMedia Theatre 5 has totally blown me away. It is the first time I have actually realized my new PC can do so much more so much better with the right software. I tried TotalMedia with DVDs, online TV shows, and YouTube videos. The SimHD video is astounding, the depth and clarity is a whole new viewing experience. With the cinema sound even my speakers surprised me. Never new they sounded so good, never new what the monitor was truly capable of either.
I was so absorbed in the video experience I haven't spent a lot of time on all the management aspects, the media manager magic view looks a little intimidating (hey - I still use a rotary dial phone that plugs into the wall...) but the online help and quick start guide is concise, sensible, and easy to navigate.
So to summarize, I don't think the old analogue TV is going to get much more use if I am fortunate enough to win a license for the TotalMedia Theatre 5 software package.
For anyone else still using KMPlayer, VLC, or Media Player Classic Home Cinema, try out TotalMedia Theatre and I guarantee you will be as pleasantly surprised as I am.
Happy Birthday Softpedia |

| Comment #117 by: mkg_just4u on 24 Oct 2011, 02:43 UTC | reply to this comment | Once again very very happy birthday to Softpedia. And, thanks for posting a great app again. I have heard about TotalMedia Theatre for the first time. I appreciate this work by ArcSoft. ArcSoft provides patch downloads as well. Currently, I have been using windows'default media player, K-Lite Codec, VLC Player, Power DVD, etc. But, I have downloaded a trial of TotalMedia Theatre 5 and experienced its great features. Its greatest feature is 3D and Blu-ray support. It is really all in one solution for media running files. It supports large numbers of video and audio files. On the other hand it also supports other file formats like SRT, SSA, IDX, SUB, etc. It helps in coverting various file formats into desired ones. Its magic view is really a magic. It is just like feeling of home theatre. 10-band Equalizer adds greateness to it. But, while installing it, the windows firewall blocked it some of the features. Even though I allowed it to access full control. I don't know why it happened so. However, it is really a experience of cinema at home. Thanks to both Softpedia and ArcSoft. I hope I could be one of the 50 lucky winners... |

| Comment #123 by: aleph on 24 Oct 2011, 05:44 UTC | reply to this comment | I never heard about TotalMedia Theater before. What I see from screenshots and description it's a suitable replacement for Cyberlink Power DVD wich latest version is totally buggy and unusable imho. TotalMedia Theater inlcudes same features: media library, Blu-ray and 3D movie playback including ability to playback regular 2D movies and photo in 3D. It's pity that the TotalMedia Theater does not support RAW image files. |

But, each free video player has a small defect that makes me to abandon using it. I like to buy a good video player but I can't afford the price they are selling for.
I saw the details and reviews on TotalMedia theatre 5 and learnt that it has all the features that I am longing to get. When softpedia announced it as a giveaway, I was extremely delighted! I will be the happiest person if softpedia gives me a free license to use Total Media Theatre 5.
By the way, I love softpedia and I spend a lot of time in softpedia browsing and hunting for free applications. If softpedia was not created, I would not have the bunch of amazing free softwares I use for my computer.I wish you a happy 10th anniversary. Keep up your good job! |

Clearly these folks are on a plain several levels beyond me. I suspect several comments may however be Adam Sandler submitting multiple times ... you can tell it's him from the style of humour ... "I do need the Key plz" and "i do need key. plz count me in" are classic Sandler and, if I'm not mistaken, "Need the Key Plz" is in fact the name of his next movie in development. So, learning from the masters, I'd just like to finish up by saying:
This sounds like good software. I hope to be a winner. I need it. I do need the Key plz. Plz count me in. Please allow me to win this fantastic program. I like mantabs, please send me mantabs, I love mantabs, Thanks for all the mantabs, I'll be winner if you help me by giving me some mantab licenses, its time to experience MANTABS! | Comment #153 by: antonytony on 24 Oct 2011, 11:47 UTC | reply to this comment | I have been searching for a media player that can play everything and has tons of features. And i find that this program here offered on giveaway also has it. I have never used it but i gave it a try. It was really impressive.
I did some googling about this product and found that this product is in the list of top 10 dvd player softwares.... Ranked 6/10 by top ten review.
TotalMedia Theatre has an impressive set of features for a dvd player software. Though it lacks some of the features offered by competitors such as power dvd, it still gives a good entertainment level . Some of the features such as (sim3D) conversion of 2D to 3D are absolutely astonishing. The good thing is that it works fine on a computer that i purchased 4 years ago even though it is not very powerful.
Design and interface may not be required for any other softwares, but softwares of such kind must have a rich interface. And TMT5 really has this. It is excellently crafted.
The simHD feature is a feature to be noted. It really makes low definition videos into videos of decent quality. It is extremely useful when viewing videos that have frame rates messed up , or the lighting is poor, or sharpness is less. In short it is a dynamic optimizer.
The Magic view feature is also impressive. It makes browsing of media file faster. Filtering and sorting of media files is also faster.
Regarding the formats supported. It was able to play all kinds of videos that i had ranging from ordinary wmv, mpg files to high def movie files. It also supported a wide range of audio files. It also provides features for viewing pictures as they are or even turning them to 3D with their sim3D feature.
Overall it is a good media player with attractive interface. Softpedia is very generous to offer a 99$ worth product in giveaway. Thanks........ |
