| Comment #20 by: JoeSchmoe on 23 Jul 2011, 19:12 UTC | reply to this comment | I use Ashampoo Photo Commander 7 now to view photos and my video collection. It just seems easy to use, loads quickly and performs the basic functions I need as I am no photo or video guru. I wish the video player had the ability to preview the video before playing (as well as some basic video editing ability) as my video collection is a mess. Hopefully version 9 addresses some of those issues. If not, I'll just keep using version 7 as it does the basic things I need for my collection. The mp3 and audio support funtions could be enhanced a little as well- but like in the video and photo ability, I get along ok for now- just wish there were a few enhancements.
I think the main attribute of Ashampoo Photo Commander 7 which I like the most is its ability to load quickly and run without being a resource hog. The name of the program is a bit misleading as it is much more than a photo organizer/viewer. Maybe the name needs changed to Ashampoo Media Commander? |

| Comment #40 by: ha14 on 24 Jul 2011, 13:25 UTC | reply to this comment | Ashampoo Photo Commander 9 strength is the ability to break every task into a series of easy-to-follow steps. The Optimize button do a good job of correcting under-exposed shots, and is also bundeled with many functions such as rotate, crop, straighten and redeye removal, unsharpmask, miniature effect or blur effect . Photos can be dressed up with shapes, lines, text, and clipart. .The IPTC assistant allows the indexing of photos with terms (tagging) thus make the retrieval and grouping of photos easier. Photo commander features a cloning tool. When working with scanned photographs, a clone brush is useful for hiding dust and fold lines as well as repairing tears. Also TouchScreen support on Windows 7 |
| Comment #41 by: nsl on 24 Jul 2011, 13:41 UTC | reply to this comment | I have an old version, Photo Commander 6, It's great, It's all in one, a file manager with editor, only I have a separate license Photo Optimizer in a separate package, I have seen in Later versions that this two were merge, that's great, having a file manager and an image optimizer at once. I only use the image optimizer and like the bright colors it atomically optimize, no much nose bleeding efforts, simple click of the mouse and there you go, I like how its bright colors effect, so I wish I could have a free give-away of the version 9, please count me in the giveaways, thanks and more power to ashampoo! |

| Comment #85 by: lordravenn on 28 Jul 2011, 04:09 UTC | reply to this comment | Ashampoo is a great company with great products. They've been around a long time. Their Media related products are top notch. I use their Burning Studio and Anti-Malware. So Photo Commander should be ranked up their with the Best. I was saving to purchase this program for my wife. |
| Comment #86 by: santosh on 28 Jul 2011, 09:49 UTC | reply to this comment | excellent software for optimizing images and editing them is so simple and high quality. |
| Comment #87 by: Dragonheart on 28 Jul 2011, 15:32 UTC | reply to this comment | I've been using APC 6 and APC 7 and am currently using the full version of Photo Commander 8. As usual the interface of this software is very nice and easy to work with. It gives an impressive list of EXIF-information when I load pictures from my digital camera.
The one-click fix of photo's does a nice job in most cases but is not entirely flawless. Sometimes photo's have to get manual adjustment, but with the sliders for different adjustments this should be an easy job for most users. The batch processing like resizing or converting works great.
I'm a big fan of Ashampoo products and am using several like Burning Studio, Music Studio, HDD Control and WinOptimizer. All of their products are easy to work with, looking great and gets the job done.
Ashampoo PhotoCommander is an All-in-One product I would recommend to everyone who wants to get more control over their digital photo collection. |

I can recommend Ashampoo photo optimizer.Ashampoo Photo optimizer is indispensable when working with lots of photos. Thank you! |

| Comment #96 by: M Fernandes on 29 Jul 2011, 20:55 UTC | reply to this comment | Ashampoo Photo Commander is a Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none tool: it does a little bit of near everything with respect to photo files.
Nevertheless, and may be because of that, it’s an interesting program.
People that don’t know, and don’t want or need to know, too much about working with photos probably will be very happy by using it.
Although, for the price it costs, I think Ashampoo could do a little more in terms of photo editing mainly. |
| Comment #97 by: Grr on 30 Jul 2011, 04:30 UTC | reply to this comment | Hello,
Friday, and I'm here.
Thanks to Softpedia and Ashampoo for this giveaway opportunity.
All review/use below for Version 9.3.0, 2011/06/21 on:
CPU Vendor:GenuineIntel
CPU Family:6
CPU Model :5
CPU Step :5
CPU Speed :2558MHz
OS:Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (Build 2600)
Above system information is from burnSysInfo.txt file from the installed directory.
FYI: Ashampoo offers a 40-day trial license, below
https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/tri/aavvpfwpyqsu9fnssgqd4ayiwkczmypn
Without much talk I'm going to get to business:
The Good:
1. It is Multi-lingual. Good for international users.
2. Can install for either Only Current or All users.
3. After installing you get an option to extend trial to additional 30days, totaling to 40days. Additionally there is a special discount button to Buy it for only $29.99.
4. Upon installation provides a good Help screen.
5. The GUI is good to eye, and easy to find things/use.
6. Very easy to modify picture properties, date/time, title, tag + view, sort-by date/type.
7. The capture image has 4 options, A single window, a predefined area where you can set the exact width and height and a user defined area. The resulting image is good. Also it has a magnifying window for option-free region.
8. There is a log file to log any error-apclog.txt
9. Almost every option available for image operation, crop,
10. You can create a Collage, Panorama, ,Frame, Card, Album, Slideshow and others. This is cool.
11. Directly Email pictures to someone. Send as pdf also.
12. The file format conversion was fast and has lot of features and image types. Cool
13. Every time you start, it shows a dialog window to let you choose the type of action you want to accomplish with the program. There are 6 actions. You could select not to have this option-screen show up. I prefer to have it show.
14. You can compare the images-before & after editing. Easy to see the differences. Also you can compare last 2 modified images. Very Good
15. Ability to Burn from the program to CD/DVD.
16. Ability to do batch processing.
17. Ability to get output as pdf, tiff, dcx, gif, mng. All this I witnessed was without any quality loss.
18. Ability to import from scanner and camera.
19. Ability to detect duplicates images.
20. Found another interesting use-the HTML image is Excellent. I infact wanted to create one!! Very Good
21. The help file is very easy to use and when HELP is clicked on any place-when required-it opens that specific help section. Another GOOD thing. Can't remember which another software had such good behavior.
The Bad:
1. filesize is 128MB. Give me a break...too much. Just repeating: typical for any Ashampoo software.
2. From their website: "RAM and disk space:Min. 256 MB RAM, Hard Disk Space 160 MB". Absolutely wrong information. If setup files is 128MB, it requires at least more than double (128*2=256MB) HDD size. Installed folder is 157MB.
3. Operating System Requirements does not specify anything about 32/64-bit OS.
4. Unattended Express installation-installs toolbar, changes your homepage & search engine.
5. There is no option to just do a CLEAN install-without any crap. However, there is a custom install, but you have to uncheck.
6. While installing CPU usage goes very high.
7. After making the changes to a photo, I exited the application; but it didn't give me an option to either save or discard the changes.
8. Try to do File>Delete--and it gives a dialog box to confirm file ""delete, while there is no file selected for delete.
9. For Edit IPTC option- I added a file & then removed (using Remove selected). But still the Next button was active, while it shouldn't be, as there was no image to edit. I went ahead and made the changes and it showed SUCCESSFUL. lol---HOW?
Worked fine when I did Remove All. So this is a Bug.
10. I started and selected Edit as one of the 6 options, but it didn't took me to the Edit window, but instead took me to the Common window. This is not good. If I had selected edit, it SHOULD take me to edit window.
11. There is some problem with the font size (in Edit mode) as I had to set the size to over 100 to be able to see what I had typed in the "Draw Hint".
12. For email option I was able to add a rar file and it went passed through convert to JPG format without checking that it isn't an image file..lol
13. Separate buttons for slideshow-start, stop.
14. I did File>new>Multipage>Pdf Multipage>selected a file bit.jpeg and converted to pdf. It gave me Multipage.pdf, but in the conversion status showed filename as bit.pdf. Another bug.
Overall I got what I had NOT expected, as I thought it to be yet another image software. But it proved me entirely wrong and left me Very-Impressed. I'm sure you all will also like it a lot and would benefit using it in your day-to-day image work.
Appreciate if you could provide me a working license.
Have a nice weekend!!
Thanks, Grr |

| Comment #100 by: antonytony on 30 Jul 2011, 11:49 UTC | reply to this comment | The first photo editing software in softpedia giveaway.
Ashampoo Photo Commander may not be in the list of top 10 photo management suites but it is one of my favourites as i usually like ashampoo softwares like winop8,HDD control etc.
It is great that the latest version of this good software is available on softpedia giveaway as ashampoo offers only previous versions in giveaway.
It offers features to manage collections, edit and fix photos, create slideshows and collages.
To start with the performance and responsiveness of the programs, this should run well in almost all systems running XP and above, but some features like collaging can put the load on low end systems.
The first tab in the program is to view and manage your photo ,video and audio collections. In this screen we will get detailed info about the pictures including EXIF tags. We also have options to filter the images according to time, name and EXIF tags. We also have options to do usual stuffs like rotating etc.
The editing section is simple and it covers all the basics but lacks advanced tools, probably that's the reason this is not in the top list of editors. Basic tools like contrast, resizing, pencil drawing, gray scaling, blurring, sepia, inversion etc are included. Option to add speech bubbles, captioning, arrows, crop picture, align non aligned pictures is also provided.
The Quick Fix section is a highlight in this program. It consists of various profiles which can be used to quickly optimize the photos as soon as they are loaded. It also has profiles for removing red eye, oil paint the picture.
Photo commander also offers batch processing so we can convert many pictures at a time to other formats or we can apply the same set of effects on several pictures. So it greatly reduces our work and saves time.
The program also offers tools for sharing. It can create HTML albums for uploading.
The program offers tools for creating HTML albums, slideshow with music, collages, photo frames and greeting cards.
The program at last offers burning to CD/DVD, making a PDF file or emailing the picture.
Hands off to softpedia for this great giveaway. As good as always.
For the developer: Despite of the great products, many of the users including myself donot like the newsletters from your company because you guys flood our mailbox with your it. It would be nice if you reduce it to once or twice a month. In most of the cases your newsletters are automatically sent to the spam folders by the client because of its frequency. |
