Since a computer requires anti-malware protection round the clock, this week we bring Emsisoft Mamutu to our giveaway campaign, so that users can rest assured that all suspicious behavior of running programs will be detected immediately.

You probably know the Softpedia Giveaways procedure by now: you simply need to leave a relevant comment and the most inspired 20 ones will receive a license to the full version of Emsisoft Mamutu (regular price $27). Your comments can describe your experience with this application, including either strong or weak points.

For those of you not familiar with the software, we should mention that what differentiates Mamutu from regular antivirus utilities is that the former does not rely on known malware definitions, but introduces a behavior-based defense technology.

In other words, it will identify threats even if they have not been detected and indexed as being dangerous, that is, long before they get the chance to do any damage on any PC.

In order to ensure this protection, Mamutu constantly monitors all the active programs on the computer, while still keeping resource consumption as low as possible.

Both beginners and experts can make use the benefits of Emsisoft Mamutu, as it does not require professional skills or expertise to be operated efficiently and detect any suspicious behavior on the monitored computer.

Your chance to win one of the 20 free codes depends solely on your comment. So make your remarks as honest and witty as possible.

You have a week to post your message, until Friday, so that you can also test the program and form a pertinent opinion on it. Don't forget that we need a valid contact email address.

For a full list of the software featured in our giveaway campaign you can check this article on a weekly basis, keep an eye on the weekly giveaway tag or receive the info by following the Softpedia Giveaway Twitter account.

Note: The winners will be picked from the comments section of this article, and will be contacted in 5 days after the giveaway expires. They will have to provide their full name in private (when required) in order to collect their prize. No other information except for your comment and the alias / nickname you provide will appear online.

We urge you not to double post and, most importantly, be original because pasting from different sources on the Internet will get you kicked from the giveaway campaign.

Emsisoft Mamutu is one of the best and lightweight behavior blocker. I have used its trial and have found it effective against real nasties. Moreover, it also helps me keep an eye on suspicious activities of legal software. Please count me in. Thanks in advance.

Comment #9 by: PocketAppZ on 10 Sep 2011, 12:46 UTC reply to this comment

If I had Emsisoft Mamutu, I wouldn't need to worry about running scheduled scans for malware. I really see no chance of an infection if my computer is guarded by the sophisticated technology built into Mamutu. I have used the Emsisoft Emergency Kit for awhile now and it is simply the best malware removal utility in my arsenal. That, coupled with Emsisoft Anti-Malware (formerly a-squared Free) and my computer would be good to go!

Comment #10 by: Karthikeee on 10 Sep 2011, 13:18 UTC reply to this comment

Emsisoft Mamutu identifies unknown threats. So if we use it with antivirus, the system will be safe from all threats which is the goal of every security software. Thank u for this offer!

Comment #13 by: J.Y.X on 10 Sep 2011, 13:42 UTC reply to this comment

Emsisoft owned technology, behavior blocker is a real focus on preventing malicious software, and more alert to avoid the premise of the technology. In the absence of a program to identify good or bad circumstances, behavior blocker will combine several parameters to assess. For example, in the leak test, if the behavior of a program is similar to the "malicious software", then you may not receive a warning, because the behavior blocker can really distinguish between "genuine" malicious software.

i heard many times about this software but not try yet now if possible i want to try this software on my pc ..........

Comment #17 by: partha on 10 Sep 2011, 15:06 UTC reply to this comment

emsisoft mamutu is no doubt a different kind of software,as it gives you a defense mechanism judging from the behavioral pattern of your PC. It does not rely on the defination of the malaware in question. In fact it is also a warning mechanism, before a damage is made. And since it is from softpedia,it leaves no doubt about its efficacy.Wish me good luck.

Comment #18 by: Alex_miii on 10 Sep 2011, 15:09 UTC reply to this comment

Emsisoft Mamutu - firewall application provides full control in real time for suspicious activity with the system of programs (behavior blocker). Easy to use.

Features Emsisoft Mamutu:
Monitors all active programs on your computer and blocks malware before they harm, using a unique behavioral analysis technology for a-squared behavior analysis.
Recognizes new and unknown Trojans, worms and viruses (Zero-Day attacks).
A small but very powerful, while consuming a minimum of computer resources.

Comment #29 by: 23mj23 on 10 Sep 2011, 20:09 UTC reply to this comment

Mamutu is exceptionally light and runs alongside most antivirus programs. It's not a HIPS but a behavior monitor and as such does not have constant pop up warnings. It'll warn you when something suspicious is happening though. Despite the fact that many antivirus programs have now incorporated a behavior monitor into their programs, most are still in their relative infancy and not nearly as refined as Mamutu which has been in development for years now. As far as behavior monitors go I believe Mamutu is about the only one still standing as a stand alone product. That makes it a good addition to any security set up as what some program misses can most likely be caught with this behavior monitor. I'd recommend it for anyone to run alongside their current set up. Of course, for those advanced users, it can be ran by itself as well. And makes a fine supplement to those who would rather have a light set up with a couple on demand scanners, sandbox program, etc.

An absolutely wonderful giveaway Softpedia. I am using it now and thoroughly enjoy it. It is definitely a trustworthy app. I use it in addition to my Antivirus and have never had a problem. I certainly would like to be a winner because my currently license is expiring at the end of the month. How lucky and timely it is for me to come across your giveaway. I was just saying to myself, "my license is expiring at the end of the month. I wonder if there is a giveaway anywhere". I always start with Softpedia when I search for giveaway or promotions. ( Your website, (of course you know), is awesome.) Walla!!! Am I lucky or what? But, hey Softpedia, I would really be lucky, (knocked down, dragged out, absolutely estatic,) if you could make me a winner. C'mon Softpedi, Make My Day.

*witty and honest comment about Mamutu* :) Now seriously, with Threatfire gone, Mamutu is the only developed behaviour blocker on the market. Tried it only for few days, but all i can say is that the name "Malware Mutu" is really correct.

Im keen to have a go with this software I have heard it is unsurpassed

Comment #51 by: Arthur Compton on 14 Sep 2011, 04:49 UTC reply to this comment

I think that it is very responsible of Softpedia to give away free licenses for this antivirus software. Great Job! Everyone DOES need malware, spyware, and virus protection these days. I just wish more companies would follow your example. Or maybe antivirus should be free. I mean seriously, hackers took the time to write the code for the virus and they don't charge to destroy our systems! What has the world come to when you need to pay for protection just to exist on the web. It's like paying for a full time police officer to be with you just to keep the street punks away. This is why most people pirate software. Why pay when you can get it for free? I really don't care if you give me a license, I have never heard of the software. I will just pirate AVG or something. I just wish I could get a registered version of something that I could actually update. Maybe that would make the internet safer! Having completely updated protection on every available computer on the web. Might make it so that the hackers couldn't create new viruses. I like the idea of having the virus protection look for habits of viruses rather than just the virus names or database info. I think that people should straight up make viruses that KILL other viruses. ANTI-virus right, we need more than protection, we need a cure. I want to try your completely updated, registered software so that maybe I could be one of the people that helped find and kill the next big bad virus. If it can recognize a virus, shouldn't it be able to retrace the virus' steps and kill it at the source? Food for thought. Hope I win!

Comment #52 by: Mohsen on 14 Sep 2011, 04:59 UTC reply to this comment

must be a good software

Comment #53 by: sysabi on 14 Sep 2011, 18:33 UTC reply to this comment

Emsisoft products are great. I have never used Mamutu before but after I read your article I would like to take a part in this contest. Till now I have used only Emsisoft Anti-malware and in my opinion very good software but menu is a bit complicated.
Nowadays antivirus and firewall is not enough. For good security and prevention you need to use HIPS, antimalware and antikeyloger software.
I think that Mamutu could improve my PC security.

Comment #54 by: amintea on 15 Sep 2011, 02:16 UTC reply to this comment

Is there still a chance to get Licenses for Emsisoft Mamutu, I hope ..

Comment #55 by: Corno on 15 Sep 2011, 11:38 UTC reply to this comment

Emsisoft is a well-known software vendor with a very good reputation in the field of anti-malware devices. Never used Mamutu, but Emsisoft Antimalware and Online Armor are simply great, I can vouch for that, so Mamutu is bound to be a high-quality product too.

Just not on the spending lost. i would purchase Emissoft if i was a lot less financially challenged. Excellent stuff to say the least. For now it is freewareville. thanks for your website and all it offers. glad you are there.....E. N. Vincent

Comment #64 by: Giovi on 17 Sep 2011, 01:31 UTC reply to this comment

MAMUTU [==> MAlware + MUTU (= STOP in Maori Language) = MAMUTU = Stop Malware] is a great HIPS (= Host-based Intrusion Prevention System) antimalware tool based on the so called Malware-IDS (= Intrusion Detection System) technology of Emsisoft Anti-Malware, which includes several new additions designed for BEHAVIOR BLOCKING missing in most of the antimalware programs out there, including Emsisoft Antimalware itself.

What makes MAMUTU better and much more effective against zero-day threats than ordinary antivirus programs out there usually manage to do, is its capability to monitoring in real time all active programs running in your system, in order to detect any suspicious behavior of them related to new and unknown trojans, keyloggers, worms and backdoors, without the need to update the program every day with daily updates.

That's why MAMUTU can be considered an awesome adjunct to any antivirus, firewall or router running in your machine.

In fact, ordinary security apps are nowadays usually able to detect MALWARE only through their fingerprint database signatures, which of course cannot always include the last spyware coming from the web.

Thanks to its Behavior-Based Malware defense system, MAMUTU does not rely on any fingerprint since it manages to detect dangerous malware hidden in your system simply on the basis of its BEHAVIOR, allowing users to block new Malware long before the signature databases have been updated.

In such way, MAMUTU stops all potentially dangerous programs before they can cause any damage, warning you when a program tries to perform a suspicious operation such as a Backdoor, HiJacker, Keylogger and/or Trojan Downloader related behavior, as well as a manipulation of the Hosts file or an attempt to change your browser settings.

That's why I consider this tool a great addition to the ordinary security software out there that anybody should have on their arsenal.

However, for those who will be missing this great SOFTPEDIA giveaway, as great alternative to MAMUTU I suggest using freeware like THREATFIRE or WINPATROL FREE EDITION, which are definitely as good as MAMUTU with the only difference that, unlike MAMUTU, they are both FREE.

So count me in please!!

It is a true fact that Mal-wares are getting 'stronger' and 'deadly' day by day.A malware attack can sometimes cause a destruction which cannot be compensated..It is at this situation we need an additional protection even if we are having a strong antivirus.

According to me Emsisoft Mamutu is such a nice piece of software which gives as an overall protection. It meant both for beginners and advanced users...It monitors the processes in the system and warns us whenever there is a threat. The interface is good in my personal opinion people who regularly access soft-wares and other data from untrusted sources may use this soft-ware for an Extra Protection......
