This year’s giveaway campaigns on Softpedia will get a strong start this weekend with free licenses for Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security.
The amount of licenses Lavasoft is putting into this campaign is a generous, round 100, so there will be plenty of winners. All you have to do in order to be eligible is add a comment ( by next Friday) that’s both sincere and relevant to the software itself, right on this page. Make sure you use a valid email address otherwise we won’t be able to contact you if you win. Winners will be hand-picked from those who deliver the most interesting responses. Just share your thoughts (positive or negative) on the current product, or simply suggest features you’d like to see in a security suite. Ad-Aware Pro is a full-blown security product designed to offer comprehensive malware protection, which features a real-time security layer as well as an advanced rootkit removal system. The Ad-Watch component makes sure that malicious processes are prevented from running on the system, protects the access rights to sensitive areas of Windows Registry and it can also block any connection to an IP on Lavasoft’s block list. However, keeping your system safe from malware is not all Ad-Aware pro can do. The product includes a “ Toolbox” section, which contains the right instruments to handle startup items or check out running processes. Even more, the application offers the possibility to remove web browsing traces (cache, cookies, history, last typed URLs and tabs) from all popular browsers out there, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome. The bottom line is that you can get your hands on a legitimate copy of Ad-Aware Pro by simply providing your opinion on the software until next Friday. You can check out our review for the free edition of Ad-Aware which does not differ too much in features from the Pro version. Note: Giveaway ended on April, 30th. Winners will be contacted by email next week (May 2nd - May 6th) to provide their full/real name in order to collect their prize. For a full list of the software featured in our giveaway campaign you can check this article on a weekly basis, check the weekly giveaway tag or receive the info by following the Softpedia Giveaway Twitter account.

| Comment #1 by: whitedragon551 on 23 Apr 2011, 11:08 UTC | reply to this comment | I like the GUI. I think its more thought out than some of the other security software. |
| Comment #2 by: PChammer on 23 Apr 2011, 11:17 UTC | reply to this comment | Just when I thought this site couldn't be any more perfect, you go and begin giveaways! So I stand corrected :)
I do not need a copy of Ad-aware but will say how good a software it is and has been in the game for a long time to fight the bad guys.
Whoever wins this will definitely be lucky. |
| Comment #3 by: Swarnendu on 23 Apr 2011, 11:31 UTC | reply to this comment | Ad Aware is a no nonsense software given the exponential rise in malware. I have been using the free version satisfactorily for quite some time, and during the first run, the software correctly identified many often used flash games as potential malwares. I now feel much safer with Ad Aware. |
| Comment #4 by: keestu on 23 Apr 2011, 11:31 UTC | reply to this comment | I had used ad-aware freeware before and the thing I noticed initially was the all in one package. I did switch later to AVGfree malwarebytes free....Hope this is powerful enough and the detection rating is high in av-test.org after it gets rated. |
| Comment #5 by: Supertras on 23 Apr 2011, 11:36 UTC | reply to this comment | I love Ad-Aware. I had been using it for the last 10 months (the free version) and I'm very satisfied. I would really like to have the Pro version |
| Comment #6 by: phase on 23 Apr 2011, 11:37 UTC | reply to this comment | have used the free version, the pro would be nice to have |
| Comment #7 by: yassar ahmed on 23 Apr 2011, 11:39 UTC | reply to this comment | ad-aware is awesome and high quality security product for your computer... its give reliable protection for your computer. the main thing is, it can run almost with any antivirus software like well known kaspersky,bit-defender,norton and many more paid or free antivirus. i am using ad-aware free with kaspersky internet security 2011,ad-aware is given extra layer of protection for your computer they 2 are combining very well.now i can use my computer very relaxly.ad-aware doesn't slow down your computer... and ad-aware also have high threats detection rate even kaspersky can miss that thing.. i recomended. |
| Comment #8 by: denis64 on 23 Apr 2011, 11:47 UTC | reply to this comment | Adaware 2011 is good, It detects and removes those stubborn rootkits, but I must add that it consumes quite a bit of memory and sometimes makes my p.c come to a crawl. All in all it is a very good product. |
| Comment #9 by: Crazy Horse on 23 Apr 2011, 11:47 UTC | reply to this comment | i'm really keen on freebies as i'm short of money now. hope to get one this time |
| Comment #10 by: Zex on 23 Apr 2011, 11:48 UTC | reply to this comment | I would like to have a key.
My suggestion for this software would be that:
* Make it smaller size
* To not use so much system resources
* Better Detection rate like other Anti-Malware software |
| Comment #11 by: Sparrow on 23 Apr 2011, 11:49 UTC | reply to this comment | I will make this simple. :)
Pros: Reliable, strong protection against malware and has a decent interface. Like GData, it has two engines (Vipre |
| Comment #12 by: zeon22 on 23 Apr 2011, 11:57 UTC | reply to this comment | Thank You,Guys Doing a Great job

| Comment #13 by: oddball on 23 Apr 2011, 12:04 UTC | reply to this comment | A good software with decent detection. |
| Comment #14 by: Matt on 23 Apr 2011, 12:06 UTC | reply to this comment | I would like to be one who tries Adware Pro. I've used the free version countless times as a secondary malware remover. The Ad-watch is a great feature that others like it lack. |
| Comment #15 by: iPlachetka on 23 Apr 2011, 12:34 UTC | reply to this comment | Have been using this software for ages and it has never ever disappointed me. |
| Comment #16 by: slide on 23 Apr 2011, 12:34 UTC | reply to this comment | It's one of the best anti spyware programs on the markets.
The scans are reasonably quick and the detection rates are good.
Cons: The size of the program is way to big in my opinion (124MB) |
| Comment #17 by: abhi on 23 Apr 2011, 12:38 UTC | reply to this comment | ad aware really rocks... i feel secure, safe while surfing on internet....... i have used itzz both trial |
| Comment #18 by: onuracengiz on 23 Apr 2011, 12:44 UTC | reply to this comment | only differences between pro and free versions of ad-aware free and pro are rootkit removal, real time malware guard, realtime updates. That's all.so even if you are using the free edition, you will have the most core protection ad-aware has to offer. rootkit scan is not the best even among the free rootkit scanners and real-time protection doesn't take action until just before a threat launches.malware and virus blocking of ad-aware pro is good, free version is also as good as pro version at doing the same. |
| Comment #19 by: Cookie on 23 Apr 2011, 13:04 UTC | reply to this comment | Great software which always gets the job done. |
| Comment #20 by: gwolf2u on 23 Apr 2011, 13:46 UTC | reply to this comment | Ad-Aware
well what to say about it
is fast, user friendly and most important very intuitive
what I like about it is that it does what it's name says - gets you notifications about mallware from your system and removes it
I haven't had the opportunity to test the full Pro Internet Security version, but the free version is quite good for me, so my recommendation is "GO for it!" |
| Comment #22 by: littlestuart on 23 Apr 2011, 13:52 UTC | reply to this comment | Lavasoft Ad-aware was the first anti-malware that I used some 7 years ago. It was quite light on CPU resources and effective in identifying malwares/spywares. After 7 years it is still the most sought after anti-malware/spyware. Really looking forward to use it once again If I can get my hands onto one of the giveaway licenses. Count me in for the givwaway. Thanks in advance. |
| Comment #23 by: AggraVator on 23 Apr 2011, 13:54 UTC | reply to this comment | that is really a great giveaway from ad-aware would not mine trying it out heard some good things about them. just remember common sense is the number 1 protection

| Comment #25 by: Andreas on 23 Apr 2011, 14:14 UTC | reply to this comment | Hello!
I used Ad-Aware Pro trial. This is easy and power software, but do not I understand why is the name "Internet Security", if Ad-Aware does not have web-surfing protection and firewall? Also I as an user I need the simplest built-in * -box.By the way, why I do not see a presence among the Virustotal vendors...
Thank you! |
| Comment #26 by: Malkhaz on 23 Apr 2011, 14:19 UTC | reply to this comment | Firstly, thank you for this amazing Easter present! And, secondly, Everyone wants to be safe in this world of troubles, but what do we do for that? Very bad thing-- buy weapons.... etc... For computer safety against online threats we don't need such extremal and bad things. We need only a good antivirus program, and Ad-Aware Pro is product of this kind. Thank you again and Happy Easter
PS sorry for my English, it is not my native language. Best wishes from Georgia! |
| Comment #27 by: GerMulvey on 23 Apr 2011, 14:21 UTC | reply to this comment | I have used adaware for years and have always recomended it to both friends and callers to the tech support line I worked on. Always a handy tool to run once a week or when the system doesn't feel as snappy. |
| Comment #28 by: rtrnow on 23 Apr 2011, 14:22 UTC | reply to this comment | I have been using the free version of Ad-Aware for the last 7 years ever since I saw that it was the best freeware for protecting you computer. I have to say that Ad-Aware has save me from a lot of hassle and work more than a few times.
Because of how I feel and because many family and friends ask my opinion about computer related items, I recommend Ad-Aware as a required addition to their security software.
Keep up the good work Ad-Aware! |

| Comment #47 by: disgruntelduser on 23 Apr 2011, 16:01 UTC | reply to this comment | Ad-Aware might be a good malware software tool but it is also an extremely resource hungary hog. Because of this I stopped using it and switched back to Avast and Comodo firewall. As soon as Lavasoft gets rid of the resource hogging I may consider giving another try. |
| Comment #48 by: GL on 23 Apr 2011, 16:01 UTC | reply to this comment | Ad-Aware Pro is a nice software. I am using the free version of Ad-Aware Pro with my antivirus software , Microsoft Security Essential and Ad-Aware Free is compatible with it without any problem. I have been using it with the last 8 months and i am really like it. But the Pro version is even better as it offer more features than the Free version. I would definitely very happy if I able to be one of the lucky winner . |
| Comment #49 by: Monica on 23 Apr 2011, 16:06 UTC | reply to this comment | I am an old time fan of Lavasoft, and would love to have this software , please count me in, thank you. |
| Comment #50 by: SirNoah on 23 Apr 2011, 16:23 UTC | reply to this comment | I decided to try out this security software in order to remove a annoying rootkit that was messing up my computer's ability to detect hard drives. It woprked really wonderfully and allowed me to remove it without a fail, i don't need this either because i have an anti virus but this worked better than my anti virus since it was able to remove the rootkit. Keep up the good work =) Also thanks to Softpedia staff for giving us a chance at attaining a free license to this wonderful security solution ^^ |
| Comment #51 by: Sujay on 23 Apr 2011, 16:24 UTC | reply to this comment | Thanks for the wonderful giveaway..!!
Ad-Aware used to be the no1 antispyware for a long time. But that time has gone and also Ad-Aware has changed too. It now offers many new features in the free version. A full Antivirus package based on Vipre engine. The Pro version is better in the enhanced real-time shield. I will be hapy to have a license...:) |

| Comment #54 by: B2 on 23 Apr 2011, 16:43 UTC | reply to this comment | The other version of Ad-Aware that I had consistently found additional threats the major virus protection packages didn't and always improved my system performance. It sounds like the Pro version offers even more layers of protection. |
| Comment #55 by: Vuong Nguyen on 23 Apr 2011, 16:45 UTC | reply to this comment | That is one of the must-have tool, I think. It is very kind of you if I can grab one license key in this event. Thanks to it, I can do a review at my blog starblogger.net. |

My only gripe is the sub par user interface. Otherwise, it has been great at protecting my computer. I am sure the pro version will be even better. Thank you very much for this offer. |

| Comment #64.1 by: corneliul on 23 Apr 2011, 18:24 GMT | I know lavasoft from early times...i was using as antimalware only or firewall program from my city LAN network (i was conencted on net with my ISP who was using at that time metropolitan LAN cables). The antispyware program was good enough as a free program, not consuming too much resources on system, good speed on scanning and detected the major threats on that time, but sometimes he saw other small tools beeing malware (false positives) depending on comportamental behaviour (too many)...the firewall was sincere, blocked all intrusions well but was too anoying at a certain point with the pop-ups windows or, the most important, not fully compatible with the integration (or disabling)windows firewall at that time(early windows xp) and had too much problems with seeing properly web pages or online games because of some issues with port fortforwarding. I was ending always to uninstall (online games, web page display correct or some extra security provided from firewall program).
recently i tried again the antimalware free program and from my experience compared with other programs in time from other companies (like symantec, bitdefender, panda, kaspersky, etc..) wasn't the best one but not even the worst.
ALL of them in my oppinion are using too much res, specially HDD one who bottleneck even more the performance on comps. Nowdays as cpu's are speedy, ram also and in excesive quantity for the most users the big problem is alwas the HDD queue when performing a full scan for example. I don't like to spend too much time on various coustomising variuos tasks, but i don't like automazing task either..i just want a program who can be LIGHT, cloud updated in real time with lavasoft and not anoying or problem maker when it comes to firewall ability. These days the common sense when navigating net is the part who is missing from ALL security suites. Good luck lavasoft...ahh, forgot...keep the price low if you wanna be the winner. |
| Comment #65 by: Espandarmazd on 23 Apr 2011, 17:48 UTC | reply to this comment | It's one of the best anti spyware programs on the markets.
The scans are reasonably quick and the detection rates are outstanding. |
| Comment #66 by: ishTar on 23 Apr 2011, 18:01 UTC | reply to this comment | Lavasoft has come a LONG way and is now making some great products. I say don't hide the fact that Gdata is used for adaware total security and Vipre is used with the other(s). Great in house development and partnering decisions!! |
| Comment #67 by: Karthik on 23 Apr 2011, 18:06 UTC | reply to this comment | I have been using Ad-Aware for some time. It detects viruses that other AV programs miss to detect, this happens many times when someone puts a pendrive in my system they say that they have some other AV and it missed.
The bad side is that it is more resource hungry and increases the startup time. |
| Comment #68 by: Akash Chakraborty on 23 Apr 2011, 18:13 UTC | reply to this comment | Have used Ad-Aware last year.I Was pretty Happy with its speed, performance, and extended features, which of course, make it a pretty good competitor against other AV-Products.But it certainly is not the best. Independent antivirus labs show that it really needs to catch up against vendors like Kaspersky and Norton with its detection rates. But excellent Suite for home/Personal Use. |
| Comment #69 by: derekuda on 23 Apr 2011, 18:15 UTC | reply to this comment | Ive used the free version for years. It's always kept up to date and the interface makes it really user friendly. |
| Comment #70 by: ericore on 23 Apr 2011, 18:18 UTC | reply to this comment | Hackers hide there malware by encrypting with custom encryption, and using builders to change the signature of the malware into 10 000 variants.
Adware Pro brings relatively identical and limited protection of other AVs. Basically, the only relevant protection is virtualizers. Virtualize your downloaded programs, browser instances or even whole operating system. Malware is simply too sophisticated for any AV. Avast provides very good virtualization for free while only Adware Total at 50$ brings only browser virtualization. No advantage over Avast, in fact Avast is probably still better and its free.
I don't embellish AVs who simply either don't know what real security is, or don't properly protect the end user. Too many loopholes in your product, sorry. |
| Comment #71 by: Kyaw on 23 Apr 2011, 18:26 UTC | reply to this comment | To tell you honestly I haven't heard of your software before, so I'd like to give it a try.
I don't usually use trial versions except when I really need one, because I don't wanna give my laptop a mess by installing and uninstalling unnecessary softwares. |
| Comment #72 by: 00bad on 23 Apr 2011, 18:35 UTC | reply to this comment | It is a solid piece of security software that I recommend to all. |
| Comment #73 by: sliderpl on 23 Apr 2011, 18:43 UTC | reply to this comment | One of best and most advanced spyware removal tool. Since xx yeras of my adventure with PC This tool save me few times from malware, would be great to get licence for PRO version |
| Comment #74 by: mar on 23 Apr 2011, 18:57 UTC | reply to this comment | I have read a lot of good comments and suggestion about Ad-aware and I am interested with its strong malware detection and deletion, but I was dissapointed when I checked what protection will I get on the freeware version,it offer much less security features than the paid version,I decline to download the freeware version at that time, but time to time I always check Softpedia for a free version,I guess this is the right time. |
| Comment #75 by: bangre on 23 Apr 2011, 18:59 UTC | reply to this comment | I have been using this software's free version from a long time. It will good if get Pro license. |

| Comment #92 by: leofelix on 23 Apr 2011, 22:49 UTC | reply to this comment | Lavasoft Ad-Aware has been my favourite antispyware for years. From version 2007 on I stopped using it.
I re-tested Ad-aware AE, 8.3, 9.0 and 9.2, Good idea to add a basic real time protection in the free version as well as well as an antivirus engine, though I think that adding a web protection for all the main browser would be very nice (I do not mean the "internet explorer download protection, of course) |
| Comment #93 by: catkitcat on 23 Apr 2011, 22:52 UTC | reply to this comment | OMG cant wait to get my hands on a ad aware key thanx so much |
| Comment #95 by: dadodgeson on 23 Apr 2011, 23:13 UTC | reply to this comment | looks very well thought out i like the fact that you can choose to delete the cookies/clean the regit. the pic's probable don't do it justice. i run a free anti V now which is good i have no problems except i wish i could tell it to shut down after full scan no one wants to get up and turn it off after a scan really like the interface and i don't mind sending info back on dangers software |

| Comment #102 by: marwoo on 24 Apr 2011, 01:36 UTC | reply to this comment | Great Software. Light on resources and very good against rogue security products. I repair computers and always place the free version on infected computers that I repair. |
| Comment #103 by: AJ Cooper on 24 Apr 2011, 01:46 UTC | reply to this comment | Just when I thought this site couldn't be any more perfect, you go and begin giveaways! So I stand corrected :)
I do not need a copy of Ad-aware but will say how good a software it is and has been in the game for a long time to fight the bad guys.
Whoever wins this will definitely be lucky. |
| Comment #104 by: jimmylee on 24 Apr 2011, 01:59 UTC | reply to this comment | It's a great giveaway. I hope I can get this. |
| Comment #105 by: JD47 on 24 Apr 2011, 02:09 UTC | reply to this comment | I have been using Ad-Aware free version for several years and wouldn't surf without it. I would love to have the Pro version! |
| Comment #106 by: beekeys on 24 Apr 2011, 02:37 UTC | reply to this comment | I will say how good a software it is and has been in the game for a long time to fight the bad guys. Ad Aware is a no nonsense software given the exponential rise in malware. I have been using the free version satisfactorily for quite some time, and during the first run, the software correctly identified many often used flash games as potential malwares. It detects and removes those stubborn rootkits, but I must add that it consumes quite a bit of memory and sometimes makes my p.c come to a crawl. All in all it is a very good product. |
| Comment #107 by: talonts on 24 Apr 2011, 03:03 UTC | reply to this comment | I love the free version, so would love to try out the extra features of the Pro version. |
| Comment #108 by: maverick555 on 24 Apr 2011, 03:24 UTC | reply to this comment | Finally a great product which is not about GUI look or annoying ads.

| Comment #110 by: raja007 on 24 Apr 2011, 03:41 UTC | reply to this comment | You are the finest software website I have ever come across.......so customer friendly....thankyou very much... |
| Comment #111 by: trickgp on 24 Apr 2011, 03:46 UTC | reply to this comment | I like this software. Runs smoothly on background(no system hogs), good detection rate but not the best in my opinion, nice gui, frequent updates. I recommend this product for home internet savvy users! :) |
| Comment #112 by: hakah on 24 Apr 2011, 03:54 UTC | reply to this comment | Keeping your system safe is the most concern of all when you decide which security software you have to install into your pc. Ad-Aware Pro is a well-known product for years which really offers comprehensive and real-time malware protection. Moreover it can also block your IP connection once there is any detection of malicious processes running onto your system.
With this maximum security and protection technology provided with this software, I can’t figure any other reason you are’nt going to choose this Ad-Aware Pro.
Thanks for this great Giveaway by Softpedia. |
| Comment #113 by: Vương on 24 Apr 2011, 04:07 UTC | reply to this comment | I never use it, I was attracted by its features |
| Comment #114 by: neko on 24 Apr 2011, 04:44 UTC | reply to this comment | Ad-Aware is quite useless program today. |
| Comment #115 by: rodken on 24 Apr 2011, 05:12 UTC | reply to this comment | I used to have this over a year ago and just before my license ran out I won a year of Avast IS which is very good also except their firewall, which instead I use ZoneAlarm Free.
Ad-Aware has found some malware others have missed, but the best things I found about it was how easily it found and removed those rouge AVs, And most of all the ability to run scans in Safe mode which many scanners can't perform. Great giveaway! |
| Comment #116 by: Manu54 on 24 Apr 2011, 05:12 UTC | reply to this comment | A very nice security program. I use the free version of ad-aware for years with very good results. No problem with another programs and very easy to use it. |

And also, it simplicity. Not too much take space on harddisk and RAM. |

I've been using the free edition the whole time and it's been fully functional for me I can only imagine how much better the pro version would work! |

| Comment #123 by: Tyler on 24 Apr 2011, 07:39 UTC | reply to this comment | Never've tried their pro version, but the free version is really doing great here. Like their AV engine, the same one from Vipre. I think the Pro one would be more comprehensive. It's really nice that we have a chance to win a giveaway license. Thanks, both Softpedia and Adware Team. |
| Comment #124 by: Bev on 24 Apr 2011, 07:51 UTC | reply to this comment | I am new to computers. I just got my first computer. As a newbie, I have gotten burned by fake anti-virus programs in my quest to find adequate protection. I cannot give a glowing account of the program as I am now finding out about it. I have been told that Softpedia.com is a trustworthy site for finding legitimate software. I am lucky to have come across this promotion. I have read the above information and comments about Ad-Aware Pro. It appears to be a wonderful program and people like and trust it. I too would like to be so lucky.
I would like to be chosen but in the event that I am not, I am delighted to have found Softpedia.com, a wonderful website. |

| Comment #128 by: shaokamsan on 24 Apr 2011, 09:39 UTC | reply to this comment | Firstly the size of the program @ 117MB is insufferably huge and takes up too much time to download - especially in regions (like Malaysia - where I am) where the internet speed to download anything is less than 100kbs - on a good day and during off-peak hours!
Secondly, PC Tools Antivirus and Spybot Search |
| Comment #129 by: stupidastheycome on 24 Apr 2011, 10:58 UTC | reply to this comment | the free version is certainly worthwhile and I have to believe the Pro edition is so much the better. |

| Comment #131.2 by: Mahafuz on 24 Apr 2011, 15:08 GMT | Yes, my condition is also like you. I am also using an Internet Security software. But I hope "Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security" will be a nice one compared to others. Besides definitions, the scan speed is also a vital point to consumers. I want to have one of it as an interested one. Thanks and wishing the product best of luck. |

| Comment #138 by: PeterFitsWell on 24 Apr 2011, 15:58 UTC | reply to this comment | I told my friends about Adaware years ago and can't think of any product I would ever reccomend as highly as this.Ihave never had a virus, trojan,or anything be able to screw with my computers over the years.I knom there has not been a week go by since I have had a computer that the word AdAware hasnt come out of my mouth whenever the word virus is spoken in front of me.Theres nothing this product can't do.Thank you Lavasoft for your knowledge and insight. |
| Comment #140 by: Mr.Dave on 24 Apr 2011, 17:24 UTC | reply to this comment | I used to use Ad-Aware as a secondary scanner and recommended it to all my friends. Then they made it impossible to use as a scan-on-demand program without uninstalling and reinstalling when needed, and the free version didn't do enough to manage ALL my security needs. I quit using it.
I would be very happy to try out the pro version to see if it offers a complete solution without slowing my PC too much. Ad-aware was a dependable addition to my PC and I miss it! |

| Comment #146 by: janhunter on 24 Apr 2011, 20:45 UTC | reply to this comment | Ad-Aware is a thorugh and reliable program. If there is an improvement to be made it is in the daily update of threats. I would like to see the number of list updates and a graphical indicator to indicate a snooth proccess of updating. Thsisbeing principally a reassurance to the user that progress is being made. Unlike the previous Ad-Aware where a bland message essentially saying updating is all that is conveyed. Unlike quite a few competitor programs. |

| Comment #155 by: steward on 25 Apr 2011, 08:23 UTC | reply to this comment | Since 1995, when yahoo started its serious chat room forums, there has been some really strange script, maleware, etc.. which has caused millions of anti-virus sales and still, we have problems. Ad-ware has been a busy little beaver during the times other safety applications couldnt help you. It found variants and morphing ad-ware very easily. however, it was marginally underminded by new mal ware and ad ware applications with the big advertisements and full blown sell campaigns. Thank you ad-ware for being there and still keep on licking the new problems of adware or malware script kiddies and malicious internet threats. |
| Comment #156 by: Ard on 25 Apr 2011, 08:43 UTC | reply to this comment | I try the free version: bloating, slow to launch and slow scan speed |
| Comment #158 by: Slapnutz Asshat on 25 Apr 2011, 12:01 UTC | reply to this comment | Crapware, has been for several years now. What on earth makes these good apps become garbage, filled with useless bloatware? Developers like this must lose sight of the "mission statements"!
Wouldn't take it even if they paid me to. |

| Comment #160 by: Deng Lian on 25 Apr 2011, 12:35 UTC | reply to this comment | I have heard that Ad-Aware is a really formidable and ingenious anti-virus software, keeping your data under 24/7 protection within its impenetrable shield. I would really like to have Ad-Aware Pro. So whether I am downloading software or surfing the Internet, I don't have to worry about ambushes from malicious viruses lurking around the web. |

| Comment #162 by: Rob on 25 Apr 2011, 14:27 UTC | reply to this comment | AdAware is an excellent product. I've been using the free version for years now, and often have friends call me to help speed up their systems. One of the first things I do for them is install and run AdAware. It's amazing how much of a difference simply clearing out all the advertising gunk can make on a system's performance. |

Well I didn't and now I am vulnerable to lots of things I have no clue how to fix. Long story short I spent all my money on my laptop and bills. I have no security and some how came across this site while trying to download JAVA. Ad Aware is what I can use! I would be happy with a free edition . I have nothing protecting my system as it is! |

| Comment #181 by: Stuart Shaw on 26 Apr 2011, 08:26 UTC | reply to this comment | When it comes to computer security you never have enough apps: antivirus, antispyware, anti-rootkits... What if you could have all of them in a single program?
Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security is that program: a complete security suite that combines the effectiveness of the popular anti-spyware tool with two new embedded tools to detect viruses and rootkits. The program also includes other security utilities we saw in the freeware version of Ad-Aware: Tracksweep, to get rid of all Internet usage traces, and Ad-Watch, to protect your system in real time.
This is precisely the best thing about Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security: it looks almost exactly the same as its freeware counterpart, so if you've used Ad-Aware Free Internet Security before you'll immediately feel at home. Likewise, Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security is very light on resources and doesn't nag you with notifications or messages at all.
That said, the truth is that the new security tools included in Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security are a bit disappointing, at least regarding configuration settings: you hardly have any option to tweak or customize their behavior.
Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security brings you the power of the original Ad-Aware tool, plus two more modules for extra security: antivirus and anti-spyware.
Pros
•Light on resources
•Extra modules to fight against viruses and rootkits
•Very easy to use, just like Ad-Aware
Cons
•Few configuration options |
| Comment #182 by: Nikitas on 26 Apr 2011, 09:12 UTC | reply to this comment | I was using Ad-Aware in the past. I like how the new User Interface looks like!
I love the idea of reinstalling and using it again. :-) |
| Comment #183 by: Johny on 26 Apr 2011, 13:32 UTC | reply to this comment | I think it's one of the best antispyware that there will not know how the virus but it is probably quite effective. A less important part, but of course is that it has a good interface, but should already modernizing. Thanks and regards. Good luck to all. |
| Comment #184 by: Chris on 26 Apr 2011, 14:08 UTC | reply to this comment | Even if I don't believe that I have so much luck. Lets try it. I use the free edition but a pro upgrade will be wonderful |
| Comment #185 by: OmidReza on 26 Apr 2011, 15:26 UTC | reply to this comment | Lavasoft Ad-Aware Pro is very good anti spyware software. The program is well equipped to locate existing threats, remove spyware and prevent future infestations. While not the overall best anti spyware software, Ad-Aware Pro is better than the average software, and much more effective than even some of the full-featured internet security suites when it comes to spyware removal. |
| Comment #186 by: Bauers on 26 Apr 2011, 15:48 UTC | reply to this comment | I began to use Ad-Aware more than 10 years ago, which was a must for a long time. However, I have stopped using it for a couple of years. The recent one eats up my PC resource and slow it down a lot. I really miss the old one.
On another note, many security suites seem to include most of features I always wanted for a long time like a sandbox and HIPS, but I still want a feature like a VPN and Live CD OS. |

| Comment #189 by: Jaggy on 26 Apr 2011, 17:12 UTC | reply to this comment | I used to run the free version. I loved it. Fast and reliable ! Never got the chance to get the PRO. I run other full blown security soft. and the free version still get some stuff even the other can't catch. Can't wait to try the PRO, I'm 100% sure I will not be disapointed! |
| Comment #190 by: PhilSan on 26 Apr 2011, 17:49 UTC | reply to this comment | I discovered AVG in 2000 included in a PC Magazine's shrink wrap as a free supplement DVD. It removed numerous Ad-Ware and Trojans on the first runfrom my PC , to my shock. I have recommended it to my circle of friends whom had the same successes as I did.
I always used the free version with equal great success as I presume the advanced one, this as a result of the unfavourable US dollar exchange rate.
I had liked the free updates which was free and equally as good as any purchased AV available in South Africa.
It bragged about AVG FREE when it was rated number one above big name brands. Best to stick with the Specialists I'd say. |

| Comment #194 by: RagingChicken on 27 Apr 2011, 01:57 UTC | reply to this comment | I've used nearly every security suite out there, and AdAware is unique. The low footprint, the comprehensive malware remove and the extra edge this software has on spyware makes Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security a good suite in my books.
A lot of other companies provide many additional features that amount to bloatware. Ad-Aware has all the essential features, but doesn't overwhelm you with options you will never use.
One side note, make sure not to have Bitdefender installed alongside it concurrently, because that software has compatibility problems. |
| Comment #195 by: TigerByte on 27 Apr 2011, 02:00 UTC | reply to this comment | What can I say but Ad-Aware is one of the best scanners for malware/spyware out there. Since they first started making Ad-Aware I have enjoyed using it. It scans and removes all those pesky items without harming your computer. |

| Comment #203 by: Toroscan on 28 Apr 2011, 02:07 UTC | reply to this comment | I am an avid Ad-Aware Free user, having had it since almost when it was first conceived. I love the real time protection, and the fact that it catches problems other antivirus programs and rootkit "rooters" have not been able to do. If the free version is great, the Pro must be awesome! |
| Comment #204 by: charan on 28 Apr 2011, 04:54 UTC | reply to this comment | Its awesome but it uses too much system resources. It detects many kinds of mlware that other antivirus softwares cannot do.I recommend this. |

| Comment #207 by: Legalim on 28 Apr 2011, 13:30 UTC | reply to this comment | Ad Aware Pro'nun tek olumsuz yanı program açılınca otomatik olarak güncelleme pencersinin ekranın ortasına çıkması.. Keşke güncelleme yaparken gizli yapsa ve ek bir pencere açarak rahatsızlık oluşturmasa.. Bunun haricinde başka hiçbir olumsuz yanı yok. |
| Comment #208 by: aviator365 on 28 Apr 2011, 16:47 UTC | reply to this comment | wow just saw this now. thanks for the giveaway. | Comment #211 by: Alex_Mi on 28 Apr 2011, 20:10 UTC | reply to this comment | Ad-Aware Very good program. While there is a free version. From advantages it is necessary to allocate 1) High speed of work 2) the Most important thing - doesn't clash with other programs for protection. From wishes I want to allocate possibility virtual mode for start of an uncontrollable program code. As possibility of blocking of emerging windows in the browser wouldn't prevent.Very good program. I want to win... |

| Comment #213 by: hyussuph on 28 Apr 2011, 21:36 UTC | reply to this comment | While Ad-Aware is not my primary antivirus software, its remains an EXCELLENT tool for removal of Trojans and root kits. I know this because I have been using it since 2009. That may not sound so long ago, but that's when I found out about it. Free software sometimes falls as bloatware, Ad Aware doesn't fall into that class, its Mustware! |
| Comment #214 by: SpudGie on 28 Apr 2011, 23:16 UTC | reply to this comment | I have been using Superantispyware for years, however after installing Ad-ware Pro I believe my Super days are over. Very nice program and it does what it says. |
| Comment #215 by: AR9Roni on 29 Apr 2011, 00:02 UTC | reply to this comment | I don't usually use Antivirus or softwares like this, but maybe this one would change my mind! But from the looks of it and the positive comments I could say this one is one of the best in it's division! |
| Comment #216 by: Phoenix_Rising on 29 Apr 2011, 01:03 UTC | reply to this comment | We (myself, with a few close colleagues) were in the business for over 14 years, and along with most of our clients, have been using Ad-Aware for over a decade now.
It flawlessly covers it's own specialized area of security without overlapping or interfering with other needed tools, like the Anti-Virus and Firewall programs we should ALL be using (remember to also do your back-ups!).
Ad-Aware always runs in complete harmony with our other security tools. Which is important, because you really do need to supplement your anti-virus and firewall security with Ad-Aware. You'll notice that it catches many threats that are missed by the other tools you use.
Ad-Aware is unobtrusive, and effectively covers an area usually left unprotected, quite satisfactorily.
We only wish products like avast! anti-virus followed Ad-Aware's excellent example of leaving all final decisions up to the user, rather than insisting on over-ruling us when a threat is perceived.
We hate having to take the time investigating how to replace a needed utility once we had settled on using it. We've had to drop avast! anti-virus now, for changing too much, and straying from their original principles, and even though we no longer sell them, we still use our computers, and are glad we never had to worry about wasting our time with Ad-Aware.
We commend Ad-Aware for remaining a solid tool which we continue to rely on, and can recommend that you rely on it to.
Thanks, and keep up the good work! |
