DefenseWall Personal Firewall is very unlike any firewall you’ve seen. It does not rely on learning modes and keeps pop-ups to the minimum. It also happens to be extremely efficient at blocking malicious activity. And we have 50 licenses to give away.
All you have to do to win one is to post a few original lines in the comments section at the bottom of this article. Be as different as you can in order to increases your chances to win one of the free codes we’re offering. One license of DefenseWall ( reviewed here) is available for $39.95 (€30.14). The application does not require any configuration as far as ports are concerned and does not rely on signatures in order to keep you protected from malicious activity. This security product uses sandboxing in order to maintain your system safe and uses HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention System) to detect attacks. In case of malicious activity, this is routed to the sandbox. The app can run as a sidekick for the default anti-malware program on the system, as it is compatible with third-party solutions. You can label processes as trusted and untrusted, the latter being restricted to make any modifications to the system. Note: You have 24 hours to post your comment from the publish time of this article. Your chances to win one of the 50 free codes are only as good as your comment. So make your remarks as honest and witty as possible. The winners will be picked from the comments section of this article, and will be contacted in 5 days after the giveaway expires. They will have to provide their full name in private (when required) in order to collect their prize. No other information except for your comment and the alias / nickname you provide will appear online. We urge you not to double post and, most importantly, be original because pasting from different sources on the Internet will get you kicked from the giveaway campaign. Follow us on Twitter @spgiveaways to receive updates about the new giveaway

DefenseWall is a great security product and will certainly be a great addition to my security setup. I am fairly happy with it, but the only thing lacking at present is a decent firewall. We are moving closer to the season of "fire sales" again and I would feel so much safer knowing that I am protected by a first class firewall when doing my online shopping. Thank you Softpedia for giving us a chance of winning this security product. |

| Comment #24 by: Paul on 28 Oct 2011, 12:24 UTC | reply to this comment | This program is priced very well for what it does . A FREE License would be outstanding for almost anyone who has used this type of software . I bought one license and would love a free license for another computer . Give this a try to make sure you like it so you do not win a license for something you will not use . These licenses should be given to folks familiar with this type of software and like it / Anyone else would be taking a license away from someone that will actually use it . Thank you Ilya and SoftPedia for a great offer |

Defensewall Personal Firewall the one and only 100% secure solution for my Windows.
Ok, first of all I want to say Thank you Softpedia for all amazing apps, Softpedia isone of the best (personally I thinkthat is the best) websites with programs for almost all platforms (Mac, Linux, Mobile and many more). On softpedia we can read amazing reviews, news, download games, drivers, and programs for all kinf of users (novice and avdanced). All programs are clean, thereis no spyware, adware and any other malicious code.Softpedia you rock! Many thanks to all Softpedia staff, guys and girls you are amazing.Big Big thanks to you all.I wish you next 100 years!
Ok, now something about Defensewall Personal Firewall.
Defensewall Personal Firewall is a gem, the one and only 100% secure solution for my Windows. It works much different than any other Firewall.Defensewall Personal Firewall is a very powerfull Firewall that can run alongside any other firewall installed on your system, silient, powerfull and very easy to use (even for papa and mama).DWPF is the world's first sandboxing-style personal firewall solution and divides all applications into 2 groups ('trusted' and 'untrusted'). All untrusted processes/files has limited rights. So for example if you download a malware by untrusted web browser than that malware has limited rights, and if you run it then he (malware) will not harm your system.Love It.
DWPF is able to protect PC with installed Windows OS from any malicious software like spyware, botnets, adware, keyloggers, rootkits, etc. , identification theft when you browse the Internet.DWPF use advanced proactive technologies : sandboxing and virtualization.I have tested DWPF on my system and I must say that is It uses minimum of system resources (10MB).
Defensewall Personal Firewall provide 100% protection, just se at the latest MRG Flash Test Project 2011 where Defensewall Personall Firewall has blocked all malware samples
http://malwareresearchgroup.com/malware-tests/flash-test-results/
You can see at the AV - Comparatives (Single product review - Defensewall HIPS )too
http://wwww.av-comparatives.org/images/stories/test/single/softsphere-en.pdf
Defensewall Personal Firewall scores always 100%
Softpedia please count me in.

| Comment #27 by: ha14 on 28 Oct 2011, 12:36 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall HIPS is an interesting software since uses a fairly new technique of partly isolating programs. These isolated applications will not modify critical files/registry keys because DefenseWall creates a virtual zone for them so if you download a malicious file, the file will run isolated, no harm done to Windows. If you spend a lot of times on internet downloading files then DefenseWall is logically needed software since nowadays new technology needed to fight the next-generation malware which can't be all stopped by the existing security tools on the market. Also password protecting DefenseWall will disallow any changes to settings and security, thus guaranteeing a secure operation no matter who uses the computer. |
| Comment #30 by: bala on 28 Oct 2011, 12:44 UTC | reply to this comment | East or West Softpedia is the the best

| Comment #31 by: Jax on 28 Oct 2011, 12:50 UTC | reply to this comment | Defensewall distinguishes itself by pulling away from the mainstream and employing a techonology which has proven success; namely, Sandboxing. Hence, it effectively deflects whatever the the present season of malware can throw at it. So, you malware mavens... listen-up: If you wan't to get past this wall of defense, scurry back to your drawing boards, and be ready to put in some serious overtime. |
| Comment #32 by: bill on 28 Oct 2011, 13:01 UTC | reply to this comment | I use Windows own Firewall so would like to win a DefenseWall Personal Firewall License for better Security. |
| Comment #33 by: Murugesh on 28 Oct 2011, 13:21 UTC | reply to this comment | Defensewall is excellent HIPS and it is unobtrusive. It boosts system security significantly. It always scores very high in MRG flash tests which tests rapidly spreading zero day malware against a variety of security software. Kindly include me in this very nice giveaway. Thanks Softpedia and Illya. Defensewall rocks! |
| Comment #35 by: Dulika on 28 Oct 2011, 13:27 UTC | reply to this comment | Thank you for your presentation Softpedia, I like this firewall program useful, I accept! |
| Comment #36 by: Bero on 28 Oct 2011, 13:32 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall Personal Firewall is for me an excellent security software. Very simple, easy to use, stylish, HIPS, sandboxed technology, Firewall ( trusted/untrusted ), minimal popups, file and registry rollback for advanced users.... simply a great and brilliant product. It should be combined with other anti-virus software and that's it. Thanks Softpedia for this giveaway contest. |
| Comment #37 by: Jono on 28 Oct 2011, 13:47 UTC | reply to this comment | Very good security software. DefenseWall provides effective protection against malicious software by separating the activity from the rest of the system. All malicious changes are not harmful and can be easily removed with a built ralback. The firewall allows you to easily control network access by untrusted applications, which protects against data theft. In MRG Flash Test this program is not allowed any threat to protected system, this is a big recommendation. This program is the future security system. The only disadvantage is unsupported for 64 bit systems. Thanks for another great contest! |
| Comment #38 by: Mike on 28 Oct 2011, 13:51 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall Personal Firewall is a unique program. If you follow only its appearance it is very weak. It is just ugly! Fortunately, in this case is not about looks but its effectiveness.
The program is quite strange. It is a combination of sandbox + firewall. Nothing like that -
it is true. The program is incredibly effective when it comes to preventing infection of the system. I have not seen a virus that would beat DWPF. That I like it most. If you learn to use it properly is no virus did not threaten us. This is a great solution for those who appreciate the quality and effectiveness. With such a guardian the internet is not terrible. I hope I can win. Translation translate google :( |
| Comment #39 by: baab on 28 Oct 2011, 13:53 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall is real-time stop hackers and viruses protect my PC. DefenseWall is
protecting from hackers, trojans, spyware, viruses, dos attacks, stop pop-up, keylogger, rootkit, malware and outside threats from attacking my PC safety.
I like this software because DefenseWall is a must have tool not only for file sharers, and very light weight with around 5 MB, the resource load is very low at about 17 MB, easy to use, hackers to break into my files, steal my credit cards, HIPS, sandbox, firewall and stop all unsolicited network connections and access to my PC, without impeding my browsing. Thank you and congrats softpedia. |

| Comment #45 by: leemaek on 28 Oct 2011, 14:13 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall Firewall is widely used as an extra layer of protection for your system which can run side by side with your antivirus product. It labels malwares as "Untrusted" and prevents them from altering your system. It provides a great degree of flexibility to allow users to fix compatibility issues with existing software. It only allows installers to run when they
are absolutely sure they are safe as Trusted. It will protect your computer with a powerful intrusion prevention system to minimize any risks of being infected by malicious software. Since it is certain of no malicious software is present on the Internet, then you are 100% sure that you are well protected from any attacks.

| Comment #50 by: amour on 28 Oct 2011, 14:41 UTC | reply to this comment | Firewall stands between a computer and internet like a barrier and screen inbound and outgoing traffic to keep a system infection free. In this regard, Defensewall personal firewall is the best firewall upon which a user can rely without any hesitation. Defensewall personal firewall is HIPS plus Firewall which not only screen internet traffic but prevent intrusion on the basis of HIPS.
Best thing is it can sort application as trusted and untrusted. and it has a great white list for smooth operation. This also include a sandbox like feature which keep a user worry free while surfing in the wild.
Above all this software can be used by beginner and advanced user equally. |

| Comment #53 by: Security dude on 28 Oct 2011, 14:44 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall Personal Firewall is the world's first Sandbox Firewall built with innovative Adaptive Automatic Protection. If you have his software you can forget about you antivirus software(since defensewall will provide the protection you need).Antivirus software (you'll need it ) will be your second line of defence.
No learning modes (as seen with firewall and HIPS programs).
Minimal popups.
Compatible with third-party security software and programs.
No need to configure ports and sockets.
No application checksum re-calculations.
DefenseWall uses a policy-based sandboxing technology to protect your system. It might sound complicated but this product is extremely easy to use and unlike other similar applications it won't display numerous pop-ups requiring your assistance
If you have not used it... you are in the stone age regarding security.Get it folks you will not regret it.One of the best protection money can buy. |

| Comment #63 by: mortenmacfly on 28 Oct 2011, 15:31 UTC | reply to this comment | Interesting - another great Firewall product... |
| Comment #64 by: mahesh on 28 Oct 2011, 15:31 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall Personal Firewall is a great product which provides additional protection much beyond what is traditionally provided by firewall and anti-virus. It works on Host Intrusion Prevention System(HIPS) - that provides protection from attacks that escape traditional anti-virus/firewall; so, it makes sense to have it, even though you may have installed firewall/anti-virus.
It is simple to use and also administer - since it does not require complex port configuration. Besides, it addresses my important need - it takes away worry of fraud from my frequent online banking/shopping use, and hence protects me financially. Because, browsing using ´Go banking/shopping´ mode is compulsorily made safe due to restriction to payments & isolation from unsafe programs. What a relief, especially in this unsafe internet environment!!!.
You can decide, individually, which program is trusted or untrusted. Even if you are not sure, using HIPS, you can identify suspicious programs by alert of their activity like connecting to the Internet: web browsers, download managers, instant messengers, email clients, IRC clients, media players etc. You can then restrict access of untrusted programs to internet or terminate them too. Experienced users can even go to the level of permitting files that can be modified or secured.
All these features at a very affordable cost - makes DefenseWall Personal Firewall definitely worth itś price. |
| Comment #64.1 by: Friendly Tech Support on 29 Oct 2011, 11:45 GMT | Take away my license if you're giving it to me. Give it to this person. They're spelling it out to the end-user, who needs to know about this! Not everyone, ok almost no one, tests stuff out.
They neither want to, nor do they care to / know how to!
What we need is someone to simply break it down like this without a sales or competitive-edge-related approach.
This makes me want to buy it. |
| Comment #65 by: Silavia on 28 Oct 2011, 15:42 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall Personal Firewall is the world's first sandboxing-style personal firewall solution.

| Comment #68 by: antonytony on 28 Oct 2011, 15:52 UTC | reply to this comment | This software here really has some brains. As a stand alone firewall, it really managed to outperform most of the firewalls which come bundled with internet security suites. It can be seen from many firewall testing websites. For such performance getting 5 stars from leading download sites such as softpedia and cnet is no big deal.
First location that a malware might get into our computer is probably the internet more than portable media. This is because of the fact that internet has now reached the farthest of the farthest areas, and now put into every possible areas. Having a security solution that has a list of all possible infections and harmful sites is not possible as the list gets bigger and bigger these days, such that database can grow upto several hundreds of megabytes. Also these products cant handle new threats as these may not be updated, so the only remaining solution is to have a behavior based program, and thats the thing we have today.
"Defensewall personal firewall" is very efficient in handling zero day threats by using HIPS. Defensewall is a standalone firewall program which detects the behavior of the files on the system and the suspicious programs are denied the right to use the internet. This is the first thing to be done for a malware infection as it may trigger more malicious downloads in an attempt to take control, and firewall is the program to block it. Not only that but defense wall also sandboxes the possible infection which prevents any harmful effects to system.
Many of todays systems run without security suites as these are bulky and consume much resources, so some of the people like me go for lighter security solution and use customized softwares for handling different areas. So it is highly useful in these areas. A powerful firewall such as this will make the owner more confident and comfortable by protecting attempts to steal information, transfer malicious files or gaining control of the system. The automatic sandboxing feature gives it a 100% chance of finding the malware program leaving all other files harmless.
The software greatly relieves of high user intervention like most of the other programs, by classifying files as trusted or untrusted and reducing the rights of untrusted applications. The firewall also doesn't require any hard setup process like choosing of ports etc, so it is easy to use even for a beginner.
And the best is the it is very little program just about 5 mb installer and uses very little resource about 10 mb. So it is the best and handles the internet transactions securely without causing system slowdowns. And the license is also for lifetime, though updates and live support stop in a year. So it is definitely worth the price.
Thanks softpedia for this wonderful product. |

| Comment #71 by: kaligula on 28 Oct 2011, 16:10 UTC | reply to this comment | Hi.
DefenseWall is a program based on a policy of restriction. It is created by a handful of Russian programmers. DW has won many awards in tests of this type of programs. Is praised for its high efficiency, simplicity and speed.
Installation is trivial. 4 steps and longer. During installation, we can learn about the program. The program is incredibly fast. I use it with Avast 5, although I might actually opt out of anti-virus. Why? About that later.
The interface a little scare, but it has its advantages. Thanks to this program is a fast, lightweight and intuitive.
The program uses very little resources - about 8MB of RAM. CPU usage I do not give because I can not measure - it is so minimal that it is useless to the administration of this value.
Highest - 100% protection system according to AV-Comparatives and MalwareTestLab.com. This is no joke! DefenseWall can cope with any type of malware - trojan, keylogger, worm. KillDisk destructive test includes the MBR. Provides protection against exploits and protects against infections via USB stick.
DW can actually dispense with an antivirus program (effective antivirus at a time when tens of thousands formed every day new threats is frankly poor). The best illustrate this with an example. Using IE downloading dangerous virus, say Sality. A file created by an untrusted process attribute inherits the untrusted - has imposed restrictions. I run. Then DefenseWall enters into action. The file is isolated from the system. Although theoretically it is running and infects the system is not the case.
hcesz lightness and efficiency? DefenseWall. In this way you give yourself virtually 100% safety. You can surf without stress. It's a good investment in safety
Thanks Softpedia:) |
| Comment #72 by: abath6 on 28 Oct 2011, 16:14 UTC | reply to this comment | Defensewall Personal Firewall is a great application protecting your computer, it is very easy to handle and what is most important is not how most of Flaky internet security packages, high efficiency coefficient sets d of the top programs such as hips, the application very useful but unfortunately it is difficult available as a free promotion, now I wonder if I get lucky? |
| Comment #73 by: Sujay on 28 Oct 2011, 16:22 UTC | reply to this comment | The first and last time I get to use DefenceWall was when it was only DefenceWall and not the firewall. After incorporating firewall feature I haven't used it but read exciting reviews in AV-Comparatives, Raymond.cc and obviously yours. Actually due to my busy schedule I got very less time to test trial products. Being an active member of Wilders Security I got in touch with Ilya Rabinovich, developer of defencewall and learned how blacklisting approach of common security products can make things worse. Although I am still using blacklisting based antivirus softwares, I would obviously like to taste the worth of whitelisting approach that DefenseWall develops actively. Please count me in the contest. |
| Comment #74 by: Anirban on 28 Oct 2011, 16:32 UTC | reply to this comment | Congratulations to Softpedia for being around for 10 long years and helping us on every sector of our digital life. I have only found true and unbiased information about any software.
The firewall program in question here is a wonderful product because once I had installed it's trial version once and tested it with the various firewall tests available on the internet. It'd be great to win such a wonderful product. Thanks for the opportunity. :)

| Comment #77 by: geekcoder on 28 Oct 2011, 16:53 UTC | reply to this comment | I have never tried DefenseWall before; however, I have used software with sandboxing abilities. Combining the defense of a firewall with the ability to sandbox any questionable activity is a definite plus and is much better than just using the Windows Firewall by far! |
| Comment #78 by: rfa794 on 28 Oct 2011, 17:05 UTC | reply to this comment | I have used DefenseWall in the past and it is a nice program which does not have the huge learning curve which is present in some sandbox apps. When I needed assistance, I received email or forum responses from Ilya Rabinovich, the SoftSphere CEO. That's what I call customer service. It would be great to win a DefenseWall license to stick on my laptop. I've not seen DefenseWall fail any security test. Check out MRG (malwareresearchgroup.com for an ongoing comparison of "flash tests" of many different security products here - http://malwareresearchgroup.com/malware-tests/flash-test-results/ ). |

| Comment #85 by: numpayak on 28 Oct 2011, 17:45 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall Personal Firewall is compatible with third-party security software and firewall and HIPS programs. I have been using DefenseWall almost since its conception and the automatically protection it affords is great. Easy to install and use and support is very responsive as well.
Some time, I'm download a BitTorrent file using an anti-virus program. scan with my anti-virus program and it reminded me that it was not a threat. Then run to me, it would be safe and the virus is starting to change system settings such as disabling the Windows Task Manager, regedit, add autostartup viruses and appreciate good to DefenseWall, nothing. to be afraid of my because all the damage. Achieved by a virus that only affects the zone of the virtual and non-Windows systems. I actually have to reboot my system is back to normal and the damage done by viruses will be restored. This is very different from the software system, because the overall picture back, everything back to a specific date for DefenseWall everything remains the same except for the damage that a virus that seems to have made. That is how software should work the best hip DefenseWall, I have put to use and it has managed to prevent a threat in some way. or in combination with other anti-virus program. Thank you for giveaway. |

| Comment #89 by: sidd on 28 Oct 2011, 18:22 UTC | reply to this comment | "Defense Wall" is the second best wall after the "GREAT WALL OF CHINA" :) ;-) or you can also say it is an evolution(evolved version) of it :-p .I really like Defensewall in terms of both its features and its performance. It offers a lot of useful features for user's online safety by sandboxing all the network activity performed by the user which is really very helpful in saving the user's PC.I like the Safe banking feature of Defense wall which greatly minimizes the cyber attack to zero.It always able to detect keyloggers that even the antivirus softwares missed out.It is also compatible with the other security softwares unlike the other firewall. It blocks the untrusted or suspicious applications from making any changes to the users data and files. This product always get high ratings in firewall comparison tests runs by various organizations.I would like to have it.So please count me in.Hope i win.
Thanks to " SoftSphere Technologies" and Softpedia.com for organizing this Wonderful Giveaway for us.

| Comment #90 by: leofelix on 28 Oct 2011, 18:23 UTC | reply to this comment | Thank you SoftPedia and SoftSphere Technologies.
This is simply a wonderful giveaway for a wonderful program.
DefenseWall Personal Firewall is exactly what I was looking for as well as every conscientious person should be.
A combination of several fetures such as Sandboxing, Partial Virtualization and HIPS technologies plus a light firewall make your internet and computer life easier and safer.
SoftSphere Defensewall combines all the above mentioned features: your PC security is granted as rootkits, keyloggers, trojans and other nasty malware cannot make any harm.
You do not even need to update DefenseWall personal firewall as it is not signature based and you can run it along side your antivirus of choice with no glitches.
I just would like DefenseWall would be Windows 7 x64 compatible, also.
Maybe SoftSphere will make it possible a day, in the meantime I hope you will be able to make my wildest dream come true.
Crossing my finger and once again thank you SoftPedia and SoftSphere.
Best of luck to all;) |

| Comment #92 by: Ganesh on 28 Oct 2011, 18:36 UTC | reply to this comment | Ensure that your system is clean then install this software then go through a not so steep learning curve in configuring HIPS and trusted modules or use their forum where the developer Ilya himself answers your query, yes the same person who wrote this software, then relax. Not many companies allow such an interaction which sometimes is the deciding factor for people like me.The package can stop not just malware but also help you throw out troublesome and unwanted programs and undo their hooks at kernel level thanks to its sandbox and rollback .The HIPS might overwhelm you in others but not in this.
On the whole a firewall with HIPS,light virtualization,"safe banking" set-up and a registry guard,to get this level of security otherwise you will need 4 different programs with proper interaction and their attendant headaches and their support system or lack of it. Defensewall also sits well with any security setup you may already have without any conflicts and slowdown. |
| Comment #93 by: svscc on 28 Oct 2011, 18:46 UTC | reply to this comment | I have used Zone Alarm Free and Pro, Armor Free, and Windows Firewalls. All have plus and minus but would like to give Defensewall a try to see if the sandbox technology is as effective as advertised. |

Even I asked my wife what will write. Then she told me joke about computer scientists, server room and Python but it wasn't funny for me. And suddenly EUREKA. Most of Softpedia readers, wrote posts about DefenseWall features or posts like "please count me". Every day I read your news, especially about giveaway software. Your giveaway sofware was very good but today contest is like my good dream. DefenseWall is good like a Mercedes in cars or like Monica Bellucci among other women but more achievable for me. the experience of using it will be a delight. When I used it, there were
almost no pop ups, it was a (almost) install and forget applications.
One of the keys for using the program is learning to differentiate
between trusted and untrusted applications and how they affect
the system. |

For a non-techie like me it's perfect because it is not based on signatures, pop-up's and false-positives. | Comment #110 by: Paf Borg on 28 Oct 2011, 21:33 UTC | reply to this comment | I’ve never used this program, not even any standalone firewall. I just use a security suite that includes a regular firewall. But from what I’ve read, this program is highly rated because it is like an “intelligent” wall that protects the not-so-intelligent users like me: DefenseWall knows the untrusted applications, those applications that are opened doors to the real dangers from the outside world, and it isolates these so they cannot contaminate in any possible ways the rest of the system, no matter what lousy actions the user does. So it really could be the right firewall for those who don’t know much about security measures, a silent and intelligent guardian always watching and helping to keep your computer safer :). |
| Comment #111 by: pss on 28 Oct 2011, 21:41 UTC | reply to this comment | "Better the enemy of good" - this quote does not belong to me, however, fits very well here. Whenever a hatch with colleagues how your antivirus program is currently the best? I tell everyone that Kaspersky or Norton.
Then I tell them that the best is a specialist factory is effective and so that it does not limit the speed of the system.
My favorites are DefenseWall Personal Firewall and AppGuard.
It is true that operate on the principle of the sandbox and do not have a signature, then do you consider that this is no disadvantage at all just a plus. DefenseWall Personal Firewall is completely not noticeable for the system, which for older computer is very important.
Thanks guys for the contest - I hope that is your occupation with us, I see how much work you are putting in conducting Softpedia - a thank you for it.
I wish all the luck in the contest and greet pss.

| Comment #116 by: Nenad M. on 28 Oct 2011, 22:59 UTC | reply to this comment | Yes,yes,yes,yes,yes...!!! Hats off to all of you Softpedia´s galls and guys - you really know how to spice things up towards the end of your 10 Year Anniversary giveaways !
This app has almost mythical characteristics according to numerous different sec.forums members ,but if we e.g. take a peak on overall results for MRG Flash Test Project 2011 - their opinion is not so unreasonable.
Conditions were harsh dealing with zero-day threats, competitors all the "big guys" ,and the winner is - DefenseWall !
80 zero-day samples --- Def.Wall passed all 80 times --- didn't fail a single time where others were knocked-out from 4 to 66 times.One got to respect that.
Impenetrable, that´s the word for it !
A lot of DefenseWall users do not even run an AV in real-time,it´s not neaded. They just run an occasional check with an on-demand AV,so - total security + speed.
To conclude I must say, this is an app I´d really like to have. |

| Comment #123 by: delarosa on 29 Oct 2011, 01:56 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall Personal Firewall is the most innovative software in security industry over the recent years. One thing is worth mentioning, that there is one man behind this program, developer -Mr Rabinovich. If we compare this with “think-tanks” and substantial number of employees at antivirus companies ( over 1000 people in major security companies ), it is surprising that one talented man is able to achieve nearly 100% efficacy in malware blocking, while others struggle to get 70- 80%. You just start to wonder what are these 1000 people doing? Writing code constantly or answering the telephones? How many of them is actually involved in security improvements, threat analysis etc? I’m just thinking out loud…
Combining virtualization and sandboxing, adding firewall which is based on the same policy, we have fully-fledged internet security suite. What is strange enough, DefenseWall is not considered as such, but merely an additional layer of defense. I'm pretty confident I can run Defensewall on its own for a full year and I'm perfectly sure I won't get infected, whereas I'm not that confident if I were running a traditional security package. DefenseWall doesn't need to be updated, except for the times when new build is released and some new fix is employed. Needless to say- it is a rare thing. DefenseWall relies on a different technology, and pretty much all the time stays updated. And here comes an advantage over traditional security solutions: they need to be constantly updated, few times a day. So not relying on signatures alone gives a PC user a peace of mind. Given that there is no need to be worried about your security software DefenseWall basically stays invisible in system tray and you can hardly see it is working. You might be tempted sometimes to check if it’s still there( left or right click on it), because its protection is so silent and non-intrusive. After all these years of using antivirus software it is really a huge relief. It gives you comfort of focusing on what you really want to do while surfing or working and keeps it simple. So forget about pop-ups, reminders, scanning, false positives, suspicious behaviors and other disturbances.
And another thing worth mentioning is that DefenseWall being so effective is compatible with nearly all existing antiviruses. We can often hear from different vendors, that using more than one real-time security software can be damaging for your computer. This doesn't apply to DefenseWall, because it is not a scanning engine. So if you don't trust Defensewall enough , it can be run alongside any antivirus and it won't be an overkill. Let me put this straight, I TRUST DefenseWall, if you know what I mean; And I let DefenseWall to isolate all these untrusted bastards |

| Comment #128 by: rhshoff on 29 Oct 2011, 02:46 UTC | reply to this comment | Firewalls and anti-virus programs have become simple commodity programs - everybody knows what they are and the hackers have ways to compromise them in seconds - but HIPS products are at the forefront of security and Defense Wall is one of the most sophisticated, powerful, and yet affordable apps in the end-user market today. I've used many others, but DW just blows them all away!

There is some ambiguity with the name- "Firewall" as in true meaning "DefenseWall Personal Firewall" is NOT like a traditional Firewall. Rather it is based ONLY on HIPS (not Shikara's hips don't lie....lol)
The HIPS technology keeps monitoring the processes/applications running on your system (unlike just the internet access to/fro in firewalls). HIPS also keeps a strict eye on System Areas & Registry.
An example- your browser is allowed activity inbound+outbound on standard port 80. Now assume some trojan (or any other bad guy) could take benefit of that port by hijacking your browser and cause damage. Your firewall doesn't bothers as port-80 is a FREEWAY. Here HIPS comes into picture as it finds this unknown "bad guy" and alerts you, Boom...you block it. Sounds simple..huh..
Additionally, DefenseWall HIPS incorporates a sandboxing approach (in simple terms a layer between your real physical system/disk and applications/browsers/etc).
DefenseWall HIPS keeps an eye on both- incoming connections for Good Guys (Trusted), as well as Outgoing Connections. Anything that doesn't fits this criteria is considered as a Bad guy and marked as Untrusted. All untrusted guys are dealt in JAIL (read sandbox layer).
So in short, DefenseWall controls your network + applications + processes - marking each of them as a Good Guy (Trusted) or Bad Guy (Untrusted).
As a WARNING- Do Use it with great caution if you are not aware on the process/application, else be prepaed for nightmares.
Can't end without ranting about no x64-bit support. On the contrary they still support Windows 2000!!!!!!!!!!!
I would greatly appreciate on winning a license for the HIPS..ouch...DefenseWall Firewall.
Thanks,
Grr

| Comment #140 by: fa fabba on 29 Oct 2011, 07:20 UTC | reply to this comment | DefenseWall claims to protect real-time myself from malicious, spywares, botnets, adwares, keyloggers, rootkits, hackers, anti-virus software etc. and identification theft, that can not be stopped by my anti-virus or anti-spyware program.
DefenseWall is a good in it's new GUI, but that makes it easy to use. But that will not limit the advanced user. DefenseWall is a new technology needed to fight the next-generation hackers which can't be all stopped by traditional anti-viruses. DefenseWall is very light on my computer as it takes up only 14.6MB of memory and its peak is only 17.1MB.
I like is DefenseWall because stop pop-up, HIPS, sandbox, firewall to new technologies keep my protected and safety first from hackers activity. Thank you alot. |

| Comment #144 by: Softpedia's lover on 29 Oct 2011, 08:24 UTC | reply to this comment | In short words, the best firewall that is available in the market. Allow me to talk about my experience first. I have installed the firewall 4 months ago on my Xp Machine, but the license got expired and I had to uninstall it. During that period, I've noticed so many good things and some bad spots of this fine piece of software. The list of pros is endless, your description sums it up in a great way. However, I've come across several programs that will generate errors if they were run sandboxed. Nevertheless, that was in version 3.11 and now it's 3.15, so I can easily say that there are so many improvements were introduced to this program. At the end, only commerical programs with high quality are offered here, so I'm so eager to give it another try. |

| Comment #151 by: Pan Pikus on 29 Oct 2011, 09:59 UTC | reply to this comment | Thanks for this giveaway. DefenseWall Personal Firewall - a very interesting tool designed to protect your PC against all worms that are spread in the network. It protects us as the only 100 percent, as confirmed by tests: http://malwareresearchgroup.com/malware-tests/flash-test-results/. DefenseWall effectively stops the bugs as spyware, adware, keyloggers, rootkits, etc. It is equipped with a new generation of tools with which to effectively stop any unwanted worms. We can also create a white list or XHR that we would have started the to be or will load onto your computer and the complete opposite of the white list or black list. If you are viewing a page in the network will want us to install malicious software that DefenseWall immediately alert us of this fact and effectively defend us. And with such an amount of malware is a real treasure.
It is a pity that such a program is not an integral part of any system is guaranteed by real security. I would so get it to protect my system. Thanks. |

DefenseWall HIPS is a very good program to protect your computer. Why do I think? So that my colleague, who has full versions of the program showed me the possibilities. It was amazing HIPS blocked all threats. DefenseWall HIPS addition gives the user full control.
Sorry for my English. |
| Comment #155 by: Alpha on 29 Oct 2011, 10:18 UTC | reply to this comment | Many say "Attack is the best form of Defense". Though it is true in some situations, but it doesn't always work that way.
When you attack there's every chance that you will lose your guard and shape and you will end up losing the fight. So to win a battle you have to have a good defense. It's not about how strong you attack it's about how good you defend. So if you have a strong defense you have every chance of winning a fight.
We all know there is a constant fight going on between viruses, malwares and our computer system. Sometimes the viruses, malwares wins and sometimes our system wins. Now to protect our system we need a good defense(firewall). Unless we have a good defense(firewall) we can never win against those strong viruses.
In such situation DefenseWall Personal Firewall comes to our rescue. It acts as an active shield and protect our system from those strong virus attacks. As i have already mentioned above that to win a battle you need a good strong defense and this DefenseWall Personal Firewall perfectly fits into that category and as a result we always wins against the bad viruses.
As always i will not go into the details of its feature as you guys are much much better in describing it, so i'll just thank you for this nice giveaway. |

| Comment #158 by: owl on 29 Oct 2011, 11:22 UTC | reply to this comment | I think, It's the best program in its class. It is very simply to use and it gives a very powerful protection in Sandbox+HIPS+Firewall combo. Can be used with many AV's, so it will increase computers protection level. Whitelisting function is very comfortable too.
In my opinion, interface could be more beatiful and comfortable. But interface is not main in the program. Also, I hope that settings in new versions will become more flexible.
Good luck in developing, Softsphere.
Congratulations, Softpedia.:) |

| Comment #160 by: Nathan on 29 Oct 2011, 11:32 UTC | reply to this comment | I was hoping for a firewall anniversary giveaway, but I pretty much expected Online Armor Premium or Outpost Firewall, excellent firewalls with two of the best HIPS around. What a surprise to see a chance to get the revered by aficionados, but relatively obscure software like DefenseWall, hopefully a good post and some impatient waiting for an email from Softpedia away!
I last tried DefenseWall back in late 2009 and it presented a shift in the protection paradigm, disposing of, or rather successfully replacing a handfull of defense mechanisms such as signatures, heuristics, behavioral analysis, etc., and in the process presenting an application that went down the road less travelled - partial virtualization, sandboxing and HIPS. A lot of applications utilize the benefits of partial virtualization and there are either stand-alone virtualization tools [SandboxIE, BufferZone Pro] or virtualization components part of Internet Suites [avast, BitDefender (browsers only)], Comodo]. The approaches are somewhat different - some run pretty much everything in safe zone and your system is isolated by default with user specified exceptions [such as BufferZone Pro], other let you create separate sandboxes with various settings, such as permissions to use internet and user rights [SandboxIE].
Either of these are great, but DefenseWall actually simplifies the setup even better - trusted and untrusted applications, clear and simple as day and night, good and bad. The untrusted apps are virtualised and as such will not affect the system.
What the dimunitive application achieves with an outstanding and elusive simplicity [apart from saving users from the associated overheads, such as definition updates and tinkering with firewall rules] is an excellent protection - one look at the various MRG tests shows the benefit of having DWPF included in a layered security approach. While most of the stand-alone malware applications did record fails at various tests [Emsisoft Ant-Malware is a notable exception], DefenseWall [along with some complimentary AM apps, as well as dedicated HIPS and behaviour blockers] has never had a day off!
And this can explain why the the version numbers haven't crept up - getting the fundamentals so right from the start! Nor is this because of lack of active development - Ilya Rabinovich [DWPF] and Ronen Tzur [ZandboxIE] are a great example of how individuals with vision and technical excellence can develop security applications providing uncompromising protection and define an elusive technological path to follow for the heavyweights in the industry.
You never get a second chance at making a good first impression and DefenseWall does exactly that - from the no fuss, blink-and- you-missed-it installation through the unassuming GUI, to the uncompromising and never feeling confused or outsmarted protection.
Thank you for the opportunity, Softpedia, and good luck to all participating! |

This is the one that does just that: Bounces back. I tried this and am really hoping to earn it and promote it through my business. I only do so w/ stuff I stand by. | Comment #162 by: H P on 29 Oct 2011, 12:07 UTC | reply to this comment | First of all, Many Many Congratulation to softpedia for 10th year Celebration. And we are also feel proud that, we can also celebrating it with Softpedia.
I am also thanking you for this whole month awesome Giveaways of Awesome Products everyday. But this one Defensewall is all time my Favorited apps among every security products. I was came to know about this product before around 2-3 years, when I knew very few things about computers and softwares, and at that time I came across HIPS products and like the concept but It sounds like complicated in practice. But believe me, when I read reviews from trusted and valuable source like, wilders forum, Softpedia, Gizmos freeware etc. I was eager to try this on my own and damm... I simply love this little program. Fortunately I was able to get it free via I think Gizmos freeware giveaway.
I like:
-Very very silent program I have ever use
-Very effective for unknown threat by using policy based HIPS
-Very light on resource, you even do not notice it
-Can be use it with any antivirus software without conflict
- My Favorite part, it make removable media untrusted by default, great for usb worms and autorun viruses.
I don't like:
Not really, but you have really understand the program and its working ability other wise it can be interfere with legit application and make trouble.
So, at the time of use it is good to read their user manuals and guides (also available some youtube video's)
Now in the latest version they also include firewall and it sound really cool, I tried their trial and really love it, and though to buy it. But I was really wait for some giveaway offer and wished please softpedia give us gift of this nice software during this whole months every day giveaway and see how lucky we are!
And yes, finally I want to thanks softpedia as well as Illya (developers of defensewall) for such nice giveaway and nice product.
Thank you,

| Comment #167 by: Giovanni on 29 Oct 2011, 14:32 UTC | reply to this comment | Would you like to have a HIPS program, compatible with any security software out there, with no learning modes and minimal annoying warning popus??
Are you fed up with configuring ports and sockets whenever you are asked to setup a whatsoever firewall??
Would you like the idea to have an extra-layer protection tool running in the background with minimnal consumption of resources, that silently prevents malicious files from performing any unwanted changes to the registry of your system, with a sandboxing and virtualization approach?
Fancy having a HIPS application even capable to stop any malware (botnets, trojans, adware, keyloggers, rootkits etc...) trying to steal your sensitive data (email passwords, home banking passwords, credit card number etc...) through VoIP, browsers, usb flash drives, e-mail and P2P???
If your answer to all of the above questions is "YES, I'd like to have this tool", then pray GOD to win a license here or just buy this awesome application on the vendor website.
If your answer is "NO, not interested" because you foolishly believe to be already fully protected with your current security suite, then stay away from this software and pray GOD and the ANGELS so that any snooper may ever be able to get into your system and then steal your sensitive data...LOL!! |

Malicious programs and viruses usually work by trying to make changes to your computer that serve the hacker's ends, but not yours. Sandboxie is a program that acts as a safe zone where you can try out programs, apps and links that you suspect of being dangerous. It prevents any changes being made to your computer by containing the program. I highly recommend this program.
Thank you,

DW is the one and the only "set and forget" program to me. It protects the threat gates like browsers, shared network drives, removable drives and other Internet facing programs, usually used by malwares or hackers to compromise our computers. What's more is that we can also add our personal folders into protection, so that no malware can infect our important data. The thing I like most of the DW is that it provides one of the top notch protection even without a single popup. According to the tests hosted by MRG, DW never fails. So I think when it comes to Internet security, DW is all we need. No more signature updates, no more popups, and malware free. I really hope they can provide life-time license, so I will not hesitate to buy one.
Wish the best to this amazing program. |
