The third largest Japanese carrier SoftBank has just announced that its 007SH KT: Hello Kitty Android clamshell will hit shelves next month.

Based on Sharp's AQUOS PHONE THE HYBRID 007SH model, which was dubbed world's first clamshell Android phone, 007SH KT is aimed at youngsters who want to be in trend and still be able to use the wide range of features offered by Google's mobile platform.

This is the second smartphone recently announced by SoftBank, after the carrier stated that its “Yahoo Phone” will be available on the market in September.

Although the Hello Kitty smartphone is based on a three-month old model and shares many of its specs, its look is more appealing to the younger customers.

SoftBank 007SH KT: Hello Kitty smartphone features a waterproof body and comes with a large 3.4-inch LCD capacitive touch screen display with 854 x 480 pixels resolution.

The smartphone has an additional secondary 0.7-inch OLED sub-display and boasts an incredible 16-megapixel CCD camera with 1,280 x 720 HD video recording capabilities.

Other highlights of the SoftBank 007SH KT include, Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 with EDR connectivity, digital TV tuner, e-wallet function, Micro HDMI interface, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included), and infrared port.

It is also worth mentioning that the phone will be delivered with menus and screens with Hello Kitty design, special icons for use in mails, a Hello Kitty calculator application, a Hello Kitty alarm clock and other dedicated app for fans of the cartoon cat.

Just like the HYBRID 007SH model launched back in May, the SoftBank 007SH KT is powered by Google's Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system.

There are no information regarding the phone's pricing options or exact release date, but the smartphone won't be available in other countries.
