14 DAY TRIAL // Sofia Vergara is getting ready for motherhood for the second time. She and fiancé Nick Loeb are expecting their first child together – and that’s the secret she was trying to keep from the press when she did not attend the Oscars, it has emerged.
As we also noted at the time, Sofia was believed to have been AWOL from the prestigious awards show because she was down with the flu.
However, just hours before that, reports were saying that she’d been rushed to the hospital.
As it turns out, she did rush to the hospital but it wasn’t on account of how she was feeling, the National Enquirer claims in its latest print issue, as reported by The Huffington Post.
She and Nick are having a baby by surrogate, and the surrogate had a miscarriage scare.
“According to the National Enquirer, Vergara, 40, and fiance Nick Loeb, 37, decided on a surrogate baby mostly because Loeb didn't want his famous girlfriend's figure or career ruined by pregnancy,” the HuffPo writes.
“Vergara, who has a 20-year-old son, reportedly ‘picked one of her healthiest and closest friends’ for the job, per the Enquirer,” the same media outlet writes.
“Then, a couple days before the Oscars, the trio suffered a miscarriage scare when the surrogate developed pains. Vergara and Loeb rushed to the hospital with her, where tests showed it was a false alarm,” the publication writes.
While at the hospital, someone saw her and leaked the info to the press. Because she didn’t want anyone digging around to find out the real reason she was there, Sofia came up with the flu excuse, the tab further alleges.
As for how Sofia and Nick’s unborn baby is doing, all is well with the mother and the child.
“After several hours, it was determined that the baby was fine, and so was the surrogate mom. Sofia thanked God that everything was OK,” an insider is quoted as saying.
