14 DAY TRIAL // Sofia Vergara broke off her engagement to businessman Nick Loeb earlier this year, and shortly afterwards started dating “True Blood” and “Magic Mike” hunk Joe Manganiello. Six months later, they are making wedding plans, after he proposed to her over Christmas.
Several major media outlets, including E! Online and Us Weekly, are confirming the engagement, with the Daily Mail even offering a first look at what seems to be Sofia’s brand new bling, on her engagement finger. Hint: it’s huge.
Off to holiday in Hawaii
Sofia and Joe have a lot to celebrate these days: they packed their bags, and together with family and friends, flew to Hawaii to spend Christmas, and possibly New Year’s too. They also celebrated his birthday, and according to reports, their brand new engagement as well.
E! reports that Joe proposed to Sofia in the most romantic setting ever, getting down on one knee on Christmas Eve at sunset. Since she’s seen wearing the ring she presumably received from him in the Daily Mail photos, it’s probably safe to assume that her answer to his “Will you marry me?” question was a decided “yes.”
“I've never seen two people so truly in love,” an insider reveals for the publication. “The way they talk to each other, touch each other. It's incredible.”
Us Weekly confirms the engagement with other insiders, and one them says that “Sofia is Joe's dream girl, he's been smitten with her for years,” which might not come as news to fans. Shortly after they went public with the relationship, Joe admitted that he used to carry a torch for Sofia even back in the day when she was still with Loeb, whom she dated on and off between 2010 and 2014.
A short while ago, Sofia giggled her way through an Ellen DeGeneres interview, saying that she would not rule out another marriage “yet.” She probably guessed where the Joe romance was going.
PR stunt much?
There is also this to consider before rejoicing that your favorite star got engaged to be married: Sofia could be pulling a fast one on her fans.
Some time ago, the gorgeous actress was photographed rocking what looked like a giant diamond engagement ring, which sent the rumor mill into overdrive. Asked directly about it, she laughed and said that the ring was just one of the baubles she was offering for sale to the fans with her So Sofia jewelry line, and that she loved it when she could have some fun with the tabloids like that.
The coincidence would be a bit too much, but it’s probable that the rumors aren’t true and that she’s using them to boost interest in said jewelry line, by rocking a piece that looks like an engagement ring.
Either way, if she is or she’s not engaged, we’ll find out really soon, because either she or Joe are bound to say something about it on social media.
