Kimmel sets out to prove that the most dangerous place is the comments section

Jimmy Kimmel has repeatedly tried to underline the nastiness people tend to show online whenever it comes to criticizing celebrities. In his latest show, he replaced the segments with stars reading mean tweets with something a little bit more personal.

It was a little bit more painful for Kimmel as well, as the video above can confirm.

“You know what the most dangerous neighborhood in the country is right now? The comments section on every web page. People are so unbelievably harsh with these comments,” Kimmel said in the introduction.

“No sane person would ever say the kinds of things that they write on line to someone face to face. If you did, you'd get killed,” he continued.

He set out to prove that by bringing Sofia Vergara in and reading nasty comments about her from those available online. She would do the same, reading negative things about him.

Kimmel swears that all the comments were genuine so, even if that were true, the skit was still orchestrated, particularly at the end, when Sofia slapped him and walked off with what I consider a brilliant one-liner.

Still, it was funny – and the man does have a point, people do say the meanest things online, things they wouldn’t dare say to someone’s face.
