Latin actress Sofia Vergara, who is currently enjoying a peak in her celebrity status thanks to her role in the sitcom “Modern Family,” has just confirmed that she's back on the market, as she's decided to split up with businessman boyfriend and fiancé Nick Loeb.

The announcement was made by the actress herself on her WhoSay page and it contradicts all the rumors that she was heading towards the altar. The couple had been engaged for nearly two years, so you can't really blame anyone for thinking that the actress was headed for marital bliss.

The statement begins with “Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent crazy and hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have decided to be apart.”

Like a good professional, Sofia also explains why the couple chose to part ways, knowing that this will prevent the press from launching into wild speculations. “We have been having too many problems with having to figure out how to spend time together and because of my work and now his, it's been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore,” she says.

She concludes her confession by adding, “we are still very close but we believe is the best thing for us right now.” Earlier this year, Sofia confessed on the Ellen DeGeneres show that her family was pressuring her to get married and that she was considering it, but it looks like it wasn't meant to be.

Indeed, Vergara has been rather busy lately, having flown all the way to Australia to film for the ABC sitcom “Modern Family,” as well as currently filming for a buddy movie with Reese Witherspoon, that has yet to receive a title.

In cinemas, people could see Sofia in Jon Favreau's movie “Chef” as well as in Woody Harrelson's comedy “Fading Gigolo,” in which she starred alongside Johnny Turturo.

Her relationship with Loeb began back in 2010, and two years later she announced her engagement to the heir of a successful brokerage firm. The last time they were spotted together was at the Golden Globes this year, where Vergara was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or Television Film.

The actress had been previously married to childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez, with whom she had a son, Manolo, who is now 21 years old. The couple divorced in 1993, at which time Sofia moved to America to begin her acting career.
