Schools take measures against cyber-bullying

We're advancing more and more and new technologies pop up everyday. You can never know what scientists will think of next - a few years ago, I carried a phone the size of a brick and now - iPhones have appeared, small and with tones of features. Who would have thought? And of course, as the world advances, bullies do not lag behind. At least so it seems, if we're to take into consideration concerns from the UK. Ministers have said that something needs to be done against cyber-bullies in schools. I would have never thought that it would get to this, but it did.

Now, the worst part about this new technique is that it doesn't stop or start with school. You can stay at home and be cyber-bullied from a distance. As seen on BBC News, this activity includes - but is not limited to - threats, intimidation harassment and of course unauthorized publication of personal info. So now, not just the whole school will know who the wimps are, but the whole web. I guess this is a lot worse than normal bullying.

In any case, there is a good part about this. It will lead to children getting informed on how to stay safe on the web. Earlier this week I said that people are not informed about cyber-security in school, though they should be and now this pops up. I think that this is going to improve cyber-security in the future, since people are going to be better informed.

Officials from the UK that are in charge of this matter have even anti-bullying experts working on it - I never thought those existed. They're cooperating with a lot of experts to thwart cyber-bullying and all I can say is that this is a great initiative, not only for the victims, but also for cyber-security.
