Waze, the team behind the mobile application with the same name, has just announced that the third iteration of the software is now available for download in the Android Market.

Waze 3.0’s interface has been completely overhauled to offer users a much better experience while on the move. The application currently includes natural text-to-speech capabilities, regardless of the region the user navigates.

Previous versions of Waze had the text-to-speech feature available only in the United States and Canada. In addition, the application comes with Foursquare and Yelp integration, adding social layer to Android navigation.

Traditional GPS systems are built on static, old world maps and points of interest, which never reflect real-time information about new businesses, pop-up shops, or live local events. The new social eco-system provides a combination of consumer-generated data from people driving, checking in, and reviewing locations in real-time,” said Waze’s spokesperson.

With a gorgeous minimalist graphic interface, Waze 3.0 can soon become one of the most popular local search navigation systems available on the market.

According to Waze, the new graphic redesign manages to take full advantage of Android devices’ screen size by simply leaving only 2 large buttons on the application’s interface, which easily allows users to navigate on a full screen map.

It is also worth mentioning that a new display of traffic and events en route will allow users to choose the perfect travel while driving.

Furthermore, the fonts of the application have been enlarged, while the guidance systems’ text-to-speech capabilities have been optimized for hands-free navigation.

With community-curated data from Waze, Foursquare, and Yelp, drivers can now search for real-time events as easily as they would find their local Walmart,” claim Waze officials.

Waze 3.0 application is now available as a free download in the Android Market and is fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.0 and up.
