Better than a betting site

Sports maps have been popping up every once in a while, but none has been as good and as detailed as this one is: SoccerMap.net is the best I've seen so far when it comes down to a single sport, and one of the most popular as well. There's nothing missing from it, it's virtually an encyclopedia updated as things happen.

I said it has it all: from current standings and results, team statistics are just the tip of the iceberg. Clicking on the name of your favorite club will also fetch web, image, video and blogs about it. The news area is very well documented, 8 sources contributing to it at any given time. Ok, it doesn't have eye-candy like the traditional news pages, but it does deliver on its end. As a matter of fact, it has a very Google-ish approach to that segment, the blue links on a white background seemed awfully familiar when I first saw it.

It's a map that everybody following Europe's jewel of the crown sport will be delighted to see. Oh, and it doesn't feature information only on clubs on the Old Continent, South America and Asia are there as well. I guess the creators of the map looked over the United States because football-soccer is not all that popular there and it doesn't start the reactions or have the social implications that it does in the rest of the world.

Football-soccer is more than a sport to sit and watch. It's what children grow up with, the one dream "job" they'd wish to have and shoot the ball at the goal almost as soon as they start walking. Or at least that's the way I grew up. All I can say now is that it's worth every minute and second you spend viewing the site. You won't be disappointed.
