Lars Torben Kremer proudly announced last evening, November 5, the immediate availability for download of the stable release of the Snowlinux 3 operating system.

Dubbed White, Snowlinux 3 is based on the Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) operating system and it's powered by Linux kernel 3.5, Cinnamon 1.6 and the GNOME 3.6 desktop environments. The MATE edition of Snowlinux 3 has also been announced!

"Snowlinux 3 'White' is based upon Ubuntu 12.10. The default desktop environment is MATE 1.4. Also Cinnamon 1.6 is available besides the GNOME 3.6 Fallback mode. Our own menu, called snowMount, and a mount tool, called snowMount, has been added."

"Nemo 1.0.9, a fork of Nautilus 3.4, is used as the default file manager. The release uses Linux 3.5 and it comes along with Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, Shotwell and Banshee," Lars Torben Kremer said in the official release announcement.

Recommended hardware requirements for Snowlinux 3:

· An x86 processor; · At least 512 MB memory; · At least 4 GB free disk space; · A graphics card capable of 800x600 resolution; · A CD-ROM drive or USB port.

The Snowlinux 3 (White) operating system is distributed as Live CDs for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. It is 100% compatible with the Ubuntu software repositories and supported with security updates and general patches until 2014.
