Lars Torben Kremer proudly announced this weekend, on May 26th, the immediate availability for download of the final version of the Snowlinux 2 MATE operating system.

Dubbed Cream, Snowlinux 2 MATE is based on the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) operating system and it is powered by Linux kernel 3.2.0 and the MATE desktop environment, a fork of GNOME 2.

Among various default packages installed in Snowlinux 2 MATE we can mention the Chromium 18 web browser, Mozilla Firefox 12, Mozilla Thunderbird 12, Banshee, IceDove, and Shotwell.

"If you find bugs please post it in the blog entry or join our IRC channel: Live chat or irc.freenode.net #snowlinux. Snowlinux 2 "Cream" is based upon the LTS edition Ubuntu 12.04 "Precise Pangolin" and is supported for 5 years until April 2017."

"Because of the fact of LTS this edition is extremly stable and fast. Due drastic changes with Gnome 3 and Unity, Snowlinux is getting as always a traditional desktop like Gnome 2, the Gnome 2 fork MATE." - said Lars Torben Kremer in the official announcement.
