Earlier this year, on April 14, a female snow leopard living in captivity at Akron Zoo in the United States delivered a pair of adorable cubs, of which one is a boy and the other a baby girl.

Talking to the press, staff at Akron Zoo explained that, at the time they were born, the two snow leopard cubs weighed about 1.5 pounds (some 0.7 kilograms) each.

Since then, they have managed to put on quite a lot of weight and now tip the scale at roughly 6 pounds (approximately 2.7 kilograms), Zoo Borns tells us.

Presently, visitors to Akron Zoo cannot ask the snow leopard cubs for an autograph, and they cannot even hope to at least snap a photo of them. This is because the young felines, together with their mom, are off exhibit.

However, it is to be expected that, once they are strong and confident enough to be able to handle being in the spotlight, the cubs will make their public debut.

As a result of habitat loss and hunting, snow leopards are now listed as an endangered species. Conservationists estimate that just 4,000 such felines are left in the wild, and fear that the species could go extinct sometime in the near future.
