An alleged developer has leaked videos and screenshots of Snow Leopard in action to a Mac-focused online magazine. Although the imagery looks genuine, little changes are to be spotted as compared to the initial 10.6 build preview that surfaced back in July. The new version of Safari is also featured in the footage.

“A sevenmac reader has submitted information and photos relating to Apple's upcoming operating system 10.6 Snow Leopard, which is rumored to be released sometime next year,” the source says. “The user installed Snow Leopard onto an external USB hard drive and booted the system. It was reported to run very smoothly, despite being installed on a USB drive.”

In the video, the user shows the version of the OS in About this Mac, as well as the developer preview version of Safari 4. 64-bit apps that are also showcased in Finder. The developer then goes and browses the web, and shows off more changes.

Earlier this month we reported that the OpenCL 1.0 Specification was ready for Snow Leopard, as the Khronos Group had announced the ratification and public release of the Apple-proposed standard. As far as Grand Central is concerned, Apple hopes to trademark the multi-core-focused technology, as revealed by reports saying that the company has filed an application with the US Patent & Trademark Office for “Grand Central.”

NVIDIA Corporation, developer of graphics-processor technologies for workstations, desktop computers, and mobile devices, has also announced its full support for the newly released OpenCL 1.0 specification.

Apple is widely expected to refresh its line of desktop Macs with the latest NVIDIA chipsets. In fact, this is how the company is paving the way for Snow Leopard to use the power of parallel computing. An announcement is most likely going to be made by Apple's Phil Schiller at the company's last Macworld keynote on January 5.
