Snoop Dog has been arrested so many times on charges of possession of illegal weapons that it would be almost futile to count them all. Nevertheless, that doesn't stop him from urging people not to carry and use firearms anymore, because that is the only practical way to avoid the killing of innocent people.

In a recent interview, the rapper talked about his childhood background and about the way he realized from an early age that he could die by the gun. That is why he is now speaking against firearms, in the hope that others will realize too what a danger they are in today's society.

'I would like everyone to be able to put down their guns. Guns are not good. When I was growing up I knew my life could be taken in a second by a gun.', Snoop explained. He didn't say if he planned to follow his own advice in his personal life but a look at his rap sheet could prompt one to believe that he will.

Only this year, he was arrested three times in three months for carrying unlicensed weapons and possession of drugs. In October, he was stopped by police for a traffic violation and the officers found an unlicensed gun and marijuana in his vehicle. He was charged and then released on a $35,000 bail.

In September, Snoop made another visit at the police headquarters after a security guard at the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana found a 20-inch extendable baton in his luggage. He claimed he did not know the baton was considered an illegal weapon, saying that he needed it for a scene in one of his videos.

In November, Snoop turned himself in to the police on another count of possession of a deadly weapon stemming from an earlier arrest. Again, he was charged and released on bail, set at $150,000. Taking all this into his consideration, one might infer that his statement announces a New Year's resolution to stop carrying firearms on his person altogether. It doesn't hurt to dream, does it?
