The name isn't the only thing that Snoop Dogg is changing these days: he's also ditching rap and going into reggae and, if all goes well, might give live television a go as well, as judge on American Idol.

Snoop Dogg Lion has never made a secret of his desire of getting on a TV show of the caliber of American Idol and he's clearly not keeping mum now that a spot is open on the judges panel.

Season 11 of the show ended Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler's run as judges, which means two replacements had to be made.

One was Mariah Carey – and Snoop would gladly be the other, saying in a recent interview cited by TMZ, “I'll do American Idol.”

With so much on his plate right now, it's a wonder he's even considering this. However, given the media attention he's been getting these days, he'd probably make a fine choice.

As a rule, AI producers don't like to talk about the celebrities they're negotiating with for the job.
