Dr. Dre’s most famous protégé, Snoop Dogg, may have parted ways with Interscope, but that does not mean that he’s about to let fans down, who have been waiting for a new material bearing his name to drop this year. Hours after announcing he had terminated his contract with Interscope, Snoop revealed that he was partnering with MTV for a new show on the networks, as well as a new studio material.

The deal, the first of its kind, will see Snoop in a brand new variety talk show, while also including the release of a new album (“Malice in Wonderland”) via MTV, it has just been unveiled. The deal also includes a tie-in in Rock Band, thus making for a first when “an overtly hip-hop artist has made the game’s rock-heavy track list,” as Rolling Stone reports. All in all, 2009 will be a busy year not only for Snoop, but also for his millions of fans all around the world, thanks to the MTV deal.

“MTV and rapper, icon, record producer, entrepreneur and actor, Snoop Dogg today announced a first-of-its kind global deal that will bring the entertainer’s personality to television in a new variety talk show, ‘Dogg After Dark,’ and his music to fans with a new album release and into the best-selling music video game Rock Band.” a joint press statement from MTV and the rapper has announced.

“‘Dogg After Dark’ is the only nightclub TV show hosted by you know who. So take a journey with me through the mind, body, soul and musical mind state of the most prolific, authentic game spitter. And tha [stuff] is funny, so show me da money!” Snoop tells his fans via the same press release. Of course, the rapper is no stranger to televised appearances, having already starred in “Father Hood” and “DoggyFizzle Televizzle,” also produced by the popular music network.

“As the world of entertainment keeps changing, we felt it was the right time to let Snoop Dogg back on MTV so we could continue to run thangs with music, movies, DVDs and bring hip-hop to Rock Band,” the rapper further explains, speaking of himself in the third person. As noted by Rolling Stone, the MTV deal also comes to mark the rise of a potentially very heavy contender on the music market and, presumably, more artists will go the same route to promote their albums.
