Since she’s so petite, every extra pound counts. Snooki, the diminutive hellraiser from MTV’s hit reality show Jersey Shore, has been losing the extra weight – and it’s all down to cutting down on alcohol and junk food, she says.

After taking to her Twitter to boast about her slimmer, more toned figure, Snooki sat down with People magazine for a brief interview on how she managed to get in such good shape.

There’s really no secret to it, Snooki seems to say: she simply cut down on alcohol and junk food, which were the biggest two temptations when she was still shooting for the MTV show.

“Two months before season 1 started, I was 100 lbs. and really happy with myself,” Snooki says of her weight before she became a reality star – and one of the highest paid people on television as well.

“Then I went on the show and it was like, ‘Oh man. We’re partying all the time, and who wants to go to the gym when you’re on vacation?’” she adds.

Eventually, she realized she couldn’t continue like this for longer: she needed to get back to healthy eating and a healthier lifestyle, and she knew the rest will follow.

Sometimes, it’s easier said than done, she laments.

“I definitely want to get in shape and be healthy again. But it’s really hard to eat good when you’re traveling because you see fast food – and you want to go to this restaurant and that restaurant,” Snooki says.

Still, Snooki is now being more disciplined about her calorie intake, and that means keeping a strict tab on how much she drinks as well.

“[I have] egg whites in the morning and chicken and salads. And if you do drink, it’s gotta be clear liquors,” she says.

She’s no longer the avid consumer of margaritas she once was. They have “like, a million calories,” so she replaced them with vodka with seltzer water.

The upcoming trip to Italy, where the cast of Jersey Shore will be shooting part of season 4, is not something that Snooki is looking forward to because she fears it will upset her determination to stay healthy and trim.

“All we’re gonna eat is pasta. I’m very, very scared – drinking wine and having spaghetti all day [would] throw me off course,” she says.
