The development team at Rebellion and publisher 505 Games announce that their shooter Sniper Elite V2 is at the moment free to play on the Steam digital distribution service for the day.

The offer is available until 10 AM Pacific Time on June 5 and all those interested can go to their library to install the title and then play it.

Sniper Elite V2, as the name implies, focuses on the experience of the sniper during World War II and features impressive long-range kills.

The developers state, "You are elite US sniper Karl Fairburne. Parachuted into Berlin amidst the Germans’ final stand, your mission is to prevent Nazi V2 rocket program technology from falling into the hands of the besieging Red Army. You must aid key scientists keen to defect to the US, and terminate those who would help the Russians."

At the moment, Rebellion is working on Sniper Elite 3, which is set to be launched on June 27 in Europe and on July 1 in North America, on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the PC and current-gen consoles.

All those who pre-order the title will be able to get access to a mission that allows them to hunt one of the lookalikes of Adolf Hitler himself as he visits North Africa.
