One of the many new smartphones that HTC seems to have prepared for us

HTC seems to have some nice surprises prepared for us. Specifications on some new mobile phones have broken through. Some of them have been already known, while others are brand new for everyone.

Headlines include HTC Nike, Kaiser and Shangri-La, which are not all that new, although a bit rare. These all work on Windows Mobile 6, but greatly differ when it comes to performances and design features.

HTC Iris, or, better said, the S640 phone model, works on OS platform with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Standard installed. It looks like the regular looking smartphone, with a full QWERTY keyboard easy to access, as it requires no sliding. No specifications on measures have been revealed, although the sizes don't seem to aim at breaking any record for compactness.

The 2.4 inch display that HTC Iris comes equipped with is not the largest, nor the most evolved. Still, it does manage to support a resolution of 320x240 pixels and has high chances of living up to most user expectations. The 2-megapixel camera will not impress anyone, but has high chances of proving to be quite useful in a wide range of situations.

The processor on this device is a 400 Mhz one, which will make it capable of high performances. Other specifications include Bluetooth and USB 1.1 connectivity. Moreover, this handset will also come with a microSD memory expansion card slot in order to live up to any space demands. One more useful aspect about it is that it also comes with gpsOne, a service that most respectable smartphones provide.

HTC Iris is exclusively a CDMA phone, which means that it will be out of reach for the GSM part of the world. No specifications on the date of their release or on the price that they will come for have been made, although it will probably take some time before then.
