Following Snapchat’s security breach from last week that saw more than 4 million accounts compromised, developers have delivered a fix that will address the exploit used by hackers to access users’ phone numbers.

The new update is now being pushed on both Google Play and iOS platforms and is said to improve the Find Friends functionality. In addition, it allows users to opt out of linking their phone number with their usernames.

In order to take advantage of the new feature, users will need to access the new option available in Settings / Mobile #. Keep in mind though that this update also requires new users to verify their phone number before using the Find Friends service.

You can now download Snapchat for Android for free via Google Play store. The application has been confirmed to work on most devices powered by Android 2.2 and up.
